Jimmy's Fantasy Lyrics

Climb the mountain with your fingertips
Right hand strumming while the left hand grips
Broken fingers turn to broken dreams
Nobody splits until the hag screams

Howlin' Wolf will never understand
Doty Crips, the Bloods or Zeppelin

Jimmy's fantasy of love and affection
Jimmy's fantasy of love and deception

Have you seen the witch she's on the side
In the bush where Jeannie Brooks must hide
Cast the hex with your echo-plex
You don't ever want to have sex

Jimmy's fantasy of love and affection
Jimmy's fantasy of love and deception
Jimmy's fantasy of love and affection
Jimmy's fantasy of everything that is bad in this world

Jimmy's fantasy of love and affection
Jimmy's fantasy of hate with an erection
Jimmy's fantasy of love and deception
Jimmy's fantasy of everything that is bad in this world

From what I can gather, this excellent song, one of many by this band, is likely about soldier's misconceptions of war until they are actually in it. I can only gather that from this: the song mentions Jeannie Brooks hiding in the bushes, casting her spell. She is also the "hag" that screams in the song, who causes people to "split", or disperse. Jeannie Brooks is the Executive VP of California company Booz Allen, which by contract, provides cybersecurity and IT technology used in warfare to the marines (and navy). Early on the lyrics say that early blues great Howlin Wolf would't understand crips and bloods, perhaps indicating that someone versed in old school fighting ways can't comprehend the tactics of street or gorilla fighters, just as he wouldn't understand the value of a later band that greatly modified the blues such as Led Zeppelin. Wolf was a Buffalo Soldier in the 1940s, and as a young man, killed another man with a garden hoe in a bar fight while defending a female friend. We know that our troops serving in the middle east have come up against some hairy gorilla tactics, such as devestating roadside mines. Technology has not prevented many deaths and maimings of our soldiers from such things. We faced the same in Viet Nam. Maybe the song is an inditement, meaning that through Brooks and her company, new soldiers are filled with fantasies of "love and affection (for war), deception", and "everything that is bad in this world". The learned, false confidence in high tech for the battlefield causes them to "hate with an erection", meaning gives dangerous, false confidence against enemies who use tactics they don't understand, just like musican Wolf wouldn't understand where Zep was coming from. As a result, soldiers are injured needlessly, their misconceptions are suddenly shattered, and "broken fingers turn to broken dreams"- if left alive, they are left disillusioned. I can find nothing else online to help decipher this song's meaning. If I'm correct, of course, it's a pretty deep statement for rock'n'roll, and it would appear the video has absolutely nothing to do with the song meaning. If anyone knows something else, or can correct me, I'd appreciate hearing it. Love this song and Redd Kross!

I had to buy the CD on Amazon.com in the Used section. It's a shame they're out of print right now.
