Let It Rain Lyrics
"Get into the groove, boy you've got to prove your love to me."
Played on the radio as we drove down south to see our families.
You were lying there in the passenger chair sound asleep.
I could recall a time when evenings were bright and thick with love,
And all the city streets and their lights thery were so mysterious.
Oh, life it was so wonderful it would shine, oh like fire.
How we sat on the backs of our cars and laughed until the morning.
Oh, I thought you'd come and go.
I never thought you would stay,
And I'm sorry if I tried to push you away.
Oh the edges they fold in and you suddenly find you are buried beneath
A blanket of snow you had no idea was even falling.
You're sitting on a couch inside your home, feeling cold.
Oh and nothing's clear, all these thoughts they have become so hard to find.
With a question mark always slumped at the end of these awkward lines.
All the simple words we loved to speak are no longer audible.
And I never thought with you and I this would be possible.
I call feel the world coming apart,
And I need you by my side with your delicate heart.
So please don't leave. No don't you run.
Don't be frightened by the storm, oh so bold and brave.
Just let it rain.
Oh, I thought you'd come and go.
I never thought you would stay,
And I'm sorry if I tried to push you away.
Yeah, I thought you'd come and go.
I never thought you would stay,
And I'm sorry if I tried to push you away.

i think this song is about growing older and things changing rapidly. and finding comfort in someone you didn't expect to.
"nothing is clear all your thoughts they have become so hard to find. with a question mark always slumped at the end of these awkward lines. " i can defintely relate to that.
This is my favorite Tilly song. It's gorgeous, the music matches the feelings of the words so very perfectly. I think it's about being in love with someone and then not realizing it until it's just too late.
the first line cracks me up... thinking of the actual song and the way he sings it... its awesome
yea, the first part of the song makes me laugh! this song is awsome
"Don't be frightened by the storm so bold and brave. Just let it rain"
so beautiful and that first like makes me laugh too
I am in complete love with this song. All of the lyrics are beautiful.
"how we sat on the backs of our cars and laughed until the morning..." My favorite lyric out of the whole cd, heh. This song makes me kind of sad. Reminds me of my ex...
Gosh, just listening to it now... I love the melodies.
in my opinion, this song is about the relationship between nick (keyboardist of tilly) and derek (male singer of tilly). i mean. i think something is going on between them. they both are from georgia and moved to omaha together. and this song talks about driving down south to meet their families. i don't know. maybe i'm just fantasizing.

and perhaps the storm metaphor is for the realization of homosexuality?

Well, I don't think this song is about Nick and Derek, mainly because not too long ago Derek proposed to Jamie. But, who knows?
In a radio session they did, Nick introduced this song and one of the girls gives a little "aww." Which makes me think that maybe this song is like Nick's baby. If so it probably means a lot to him, which I think is really sweet.
Every time I hear this song I picture it in my head and it's so beautiful. I love it.
