Nice Lyrics

Take the beautiful sting of a Scorpio
A careless smile and it begins to snow
And it hurts me to think
That you might never know
That I've got this thing about you

In case you don't understand
There's something else I meant to tell you

There is nothing better
Than being with you
And I'm feeling so nice
There is nowhere better
Than here with you
And it's feeling so nice

Staying up with the moon
And walking home in the rain
Mixed with your perfume
And never twice the same
I got a lot to lose
But everything to gain
When I really think about it

You haven't got a clue
It's all that I can do to hide it

There is nothing better
Than being with you
And I'm feeling so nice
There is nowhere better
Than here with you
And it's feeling so nice

Did I already say
'Cause you make me forget
I might as well be brave and tell 'ya

And it hurts me to think that
You might never know
Will it hurt as much being true?
I might as well be brave and tell 'ya

Yeah I'm feeling
And it's feeling so nice

Ah, I love this song; it’s definitely one of my favorites on Astronaut. I think it’s very catchy, but I especially love the lyrics. The meaning is pretty obvious, I think--to me, it’s about someone who has fallen in love with a close friend, and is debating whether or not they should confess their feelings. I especially love these lines:

I got a lot to lose But everything to gain When I really think about it

A friendship is, indeed, “a lot to lose,” and situations like this can easily end in disaster (because when someone tells a person with whom they’re “just friends” that they have romantic feelings for them, and these feelings are not returned, the friendship can end up falling apart because of the resulting awkwardness).

But, of course, they do have “everything to gain,” because when the romantic feelings are actually returned in this situation, it can lead to a very fulfilling relationship. The whole “best-friends-turned-lovers” thing doesn’t seem to happen successfully very often, but it’s wonderful when it does. And then there’re these lines:

And it hurts me to think that You might never know Will it hurt as much being true?

It’s saying the same sort of thing--it’s painful to hide the fact that you’re in love with your best friend, but it might be even more painful to tell them your feelings only to find out that they don’t feel that way about you, and even worse, they might break off the friendship, too.

But yes, that's my take on this song.

I don't really like this song. I hope they don't release it as their next single. It could do very well but I think it could get obnoxious. It's not a bad song, it's just that it doesn't stick out to me.
