Miracle Drug Lyrics

He was tied to the bed with a miracle drug in one hand,
In the other, a great lost novel that, I understand, was returned with a stamp
That said "thank you for your interest, young man."

While preparing his soul for a perilous slide into crime,
He had decided that he would err on this side of divine,
Being told this was wise, that there'd be payback with interest in due time
So why all the history now?

He was tied to a job selling miracle drugs from his home,
At his door every morning, a trophy arrived with the dawn,
With the following inscribed:
"we've followed you with interest for some time."
So why all the history now?
He was tied to the bed with a miracle drug in one hand.

this is such a great intro to this cd. it catches your ear amazingly. and thinking about it briefly, i have no idea what this song is about.

actually now that i've listened to it on repeat a couple more times, it sounds almost like the story of three phases in someone's life: as in birth, adolescence, and then adulthood. then the last line that repeats the first just brings it back to the beginning and begins the cycle all over again. that's what i get from it.

I can -not- wrap my mind around this song. It's so hard to decipher, but the words to describe it are always hanging on the tip of my tongue.

Eh. It's a great song regardless.

this is an amazingly catchy song. good stuff. i'm still not sure what i think the song is exactly about, but it just sounds like some guy had the option to either go down the good or bad path, and chose the bad, knowing he'd get something out of it. who knows if it's literally about drugs, but that's all i can say for now.

i really think this is a comple spiritual song. I believe that when bono says: i want a trip inside your head and spend a day there. I really think hes talking about God, and hes trying to find out about how could he think, because he`s in the the quest for that miracle drug. When he talks about no limits between science and humans heart, is that God has placed everything for us and when we dont reach it is because be block ourselfes out of it.
I am you and you are mine, could be a phrase of God thinking, that for him there exist no limits and the reason is on the side of those who believe it. The chorus of: the songs are in your eyes, for me is God looking down at us, and that he joyce himself when we are happy and that somehow hes waiting and patience for our love. "God i need your help tonight" The surrender heart brakes under the love and need of God.

"Beneath the noice, below the din, i hear your voice, is whispering, in science and in medicine i was a stranger you took me in"

Here is confusing... but remarkable at the same time. The bible says that God talks to us and say that he`s at the door and knocking, if someone hears hes voice and opens the door he will go in with him.

Could also be the cry of a man whos heart brakes and falls down to God hand.

U2 has grown and mature in greatness.
