Live...From The Funeral Of God Lyrics
This is the day you've awaited
Sponsored and celebrated
He has answered your prayers
Corpses have piled up with your riches
They have spilled over onto the Earth
We spit and wear our fear like masks
Everything is locked into form
Interrupt the feed
It's closing in
It’s closing in
The sky’s so dark
Are men no worse than demons?
Are armies not thirsty for bleed?
The desire of their hearts has been met
Eons and eons
Decades of liars
Drink with power atop the mountains of corpses
Their arms and legs fail and they crawl like serpents
To address those who are mourning
Live from the funeral of God
Of God
It's closing in
It's closing in
The sky's so dark
There is no reason to be afraid
Everything is under control
We shall miss him

it means the funeral of God in mans mind not if he actually died i think. its written i think kind of mocking modern atheism, and the way people think they can easily live without the existance of God, so in their mind they decide he doesnt exist anymore, western society see life that way now, they say to God we have no need of you, you dont need to exist anymore, good bye. his funeral is in their heads. and the we will miss him bit, is the most mocking part of all. thats how i see it anyway.
without God everything would cease to exist, so this concept is kinda weird
its about how we think we dont need God but everything would fall apart without him. He is the very core of our existence.
This song (and every Zao song) rocks. It's about what the world would be like if God died. It would obviously bring anarchy and chaos down on the world. But when does it say "We shall miss him?" I don't hear that, but I could just be deaf.
Well, he doesn't actually say "we shall mis him" but in the liner notes of the album the official lyrics say "we shall miss him" so I added it anyway. I assume they couldn't find a proper place to put it in the song but was in their intention to put it in.
The world submits to deception yet again. We lament the departure of God but are decieved in thinking we can go on without Him. Our hearts are granted their full desire of being able to do whatever they want for no one is there to stop them. Death and hatred rule upon the earth.
keyman7, you hit the nail square on the head, dude. I don't think anyone could have said it better.
actually, i think keyman is slightly off. i think that this is the point where we finally realize that a) we have been extremely selfish and have pushed God to the side and b) now he is finally giving us what we sought after so bad (to live life apart from God) and lastly c) it really, really sucks, to use an understatement. i think that even though we realize all this, we all try to say that we don't need God anymore and deceive ourselves still further. the "we shall miss him" seems tacked on, almost like it was meant to be said with a tone of apathy-covering-fear.
This song could actually be about hell. In the bible it talks about God answering the prayers of those who don't want to be with him by completely seperating them from him for ever. Into a place that is absent of him...Hell Im not sure that that is what the song is about but I could be right.
AOM: But it isn't. The song is from the album Funeral of God, which is all about what if God got so sick of humans that He just died. Check out "The Last Song From Zion" for a little more of this.
