Thickfreakness Lyrics
Here I am, ??? darling
And I’ll care for you - hey that’s all I want to do
Hold me, love me, in your heart
And I'll hold you near and I'll whisper in your ear
I'll take your hand and I’ll make you understand
Hold me, love me in your heart
And I’ll care for you - hey that’s all I want to do
Hold me, love me, in your heart
And I'll hold you near and I'll whisper in your ear
I'll take your hand and I’ll make you understand
Hold me, love me in your heart

Here I am, I'm not here now, no, no, no. *
what is the goddamn second line?? it's NOT "i'm not here now, no, no, no". i don't know what deaf man figured this or why it gets reposted to every other lyrics website...? when you watch dan sing it, it looks something like:
"and ah leeda la, my darling"
which, of course, is nonsensical. thoughts anyone?
I'm not sure if the the second line you mean the continuation of that opener

I think he just sings: Her I am, Here I am my darling
I think he just sings: Her I am, Here I am my darling
Repeating the Here I am a second time, but he noes a little bit of a growl/scat before he gets into that second "Here I am"

Well its quite obvious its about a girl and hes in love with!

the guitar in this song is so awesome - reminds me of some sound jimmy hendrix songs, the really rough and bluesy sound some of them used to have. but yeah, there's not really much more to say about the lyrics.
its easy to understand (simple), short, and sweet.
Come to think of it, a lot of old and new blues tunes are relatively straightforward in their meaning and backed up with a mesmerizing score. I read a biography on the band and their styles has been called "blues-rock" and I think it's a good choice. The lyrics are emotional and not subtle, and neither are the chords they play. It's loud and raw and it screams "hey look at me". The Black Keys play music for that kind of human heart, at least my opinion.
They are an awesome duo, as is this song.
If this song was any heavier my speakers would crash through the floor.
He definitely says "Here I am now, hey now here I am now darlin"
it's pretty clear in this video as you can see his mouth moving perfectly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17-oVrGoFtM
