I Missed the Glance Lyrics

sundays best is hopeless, dying to let you know, i thought so.
hoping i get over, sleeping the days away, why suffer.
expression keeps you nowhere, frantic i missed the glance twice over.
sunrise on my shoulder, tempted to summarize, i thought so.
sundays best is hopeless, dying to let you know, i thought so.

i wonder what "the glance" really is? i'm curious about this song, most of it doesn't make sense to me but it's just so carefree-ish and pretty that really, i guess it doesn't matter so much. it gives such a nice feeling. the background music reminds me of zero 7, sort of the electronica vibe :)

My interpretation of the song is that the singer likes a girl, and is trying to figure out whether or not she likes him back. He can't tell by her facial expressions whether she's encouraging him or not.

"Sunday's best is hopeless" - He tries to wear nice clothing to impress her, but it doesn't seem to work.

"Dying to let you know, I thought so" - He thinks she might like him back, but is too timid to tell her

"Hoping I get over, sleeping the days away, why suffer?" - He's depressed because he can't bring himself to tell her. He hopes he gets over his crush, and because of his depression, sleeps the days away.

"Expression keeps you nowhere" - He can't tell by her facial expressions whether she's interested in him or not

"Frantic I missed the glance twice over" - She might have given him looks that expressed her interest in him, but he really doesn't know. Either way, he hasn't acted on it, and is scared that he missed multiple oppurtunities to ask her out.

I'm not sure about the next line at all, though.

But yeah, this song really rocks.

I agree with Jumping's interpretation. you really have to go through TSAC's lyrics one line at a time because he writes basically in all metaphors and heavy symbolism so it has to sort of be translated as if reading poetry. (one of the mainly reasons why I love them) as far as the line "sunrise on my shoulder, tempted to summarize" I don't have much but it reminds me of john denver "sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy" and sunrises usually symbolize the beginning of something so maybe she touched his shoulder or something and he summarized or jumped to the conclusion that that meant she liked him? but he's not sure if it was a hint or he was just making an assumption?
