Searching on the wire
for a wire,
for a peace of mind,
like the spiders in the corners
that are never there,
to the one,
to the magic sun.
you're not that bright now,
but you will be someday soon,
and you will fall in love with the moonlight.
So come on,
come on and say so,
come on,
come on and say so.
If god was on the radio
i know he'd say to thee,
love is spiders on the edge,
and we're hanging by a thread,
connected to the other end of this
twisted frequency i've spun,
but i don't care,
i'd be happy
if you'd share
your web with me.
So come on,
come on and say so,
come on,
come on and say so
why don't you,
why don't you,
come on,
come on and say so.
for a wire,
for a peace of mind,
like the spiders in the corners
that are never there,
to the one,
to the magic sun.
you're not that bright now,
but you will be someday soon,
and you will fall in love with the moonlight.
come on and say so,
come on,
come on and say so.
i know he'd say to thee,
love is spiders on the edge,
and we're hanging by a thread,
connected to the other end of this
twisted frequency i've spun,
but i don't care,
i'd be happy
if you'd share
your web with me.
come on and say so,
come on,
come on and say so
why don't you,
come on,
come on and say so.

Although it's not widely known, the part where he says "love is spiders on the edge, and we're hanging by a thread..." is actually a quote from the sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, by John Edwards. It's saying that we are l ike spiders, suspended over hellfire by a single thread, and that it's a miracle that God has spared us for any small length of time.
Amazing song.
this is gets better everytime i listen to it. it's amazing.
amazing song.
agreed. its a good song to fall asleep to
I love the quote that they say God would say to us. It's a beautiful way of saying we're barely hanging on.
yeah i love 'spiders' as a metaphor.
"love is spiders on the edge, and we're hanging by a thread, connected to the other end of this twisted frequency i've spun, but i don't care, i'd be happy if you'd share your web with me."
For me, that section is the heart of the song....I feel like he's acknowledging the fragility of life...especially in love, so when you have something good...you're so lucky. "us against the world" kind of feel...yeah, life is hard, let's share a web :)
i think this song is beautiful it depicts on how love comes and goes . it is just as easy for love to fall apart as it is to fall in love. love is an adventure and your canstantly "hanging on the edge"
Simply Amazing.
Hahaha... So, it's "Jonathan Edwards," not "John Edwards." Not sure how I made that mistake..
