Pyre of Gods Lyrics
On the legs of lightning,
the storm rears in defeat.
Rising in vain once more with the sea.
Grey hand's reaching, cold under the swell.
Withered in the forge of our unbelief.
All gods breed, all gods die, all gods will pay.
We'll exorcise all of these fathers of lies.
Burned holes for eyes behold the pyre of gods.
Uncrusaders, heretics to all faith.
No slavery beyond death!
Every idol will feel our scourge.
They can't hold us in this life.
All gods breed, all gods die, all gods will pay.
We'll exorcise all of these fathers of lies.
Burned holes for eyes behold the pyre of gods.
The ransom of your soul must be paid for your dead.
The way out for us all: We'll take the jailer's head.
All gods want, all gods need. Their sacrifices must bleed.
All gods breed, all gods die, all gods will pay.
We'll exorcise all of these fathers of lies.
Burned holes for eyes behold the pyre of gods.
the storm rears in defeat.
Rising in vain once more with the sea.
Grey hand's reaching, cold under the swell.
Withered in the forge of our unbelief.
Burned holes for eyes behold the pyre of gods.
No slavery beyond death!
Every idol will feel our scourge.
They can't hold us in this life.
Burned holes for eyes behold the pyre of gods.
The way out for us all: We'll take the jailer's head.
All gods breed, all gods die, all gods will pay.
Burned holes for eyes behold the pyre of gods.

Really if you look at it, it's the atheist anthem. "All gods breed, all gods die their sacrifices must bleed". Simply put, about human selfishness and they shall pay in the end...
Excellent song! and I am privileged to have met Marco and shaked his hand and talked to him on the 2 Nightwish concerts i've been to this year, truley this man is an incredible musician!
While at first it sounds like an atheist anthem it really isn't. The line; "The ransom of your soul must be paid for your dead. The way out for us all: We'll take the jailer's head." is in reference to Jesus death on the stake. Marco and the guys aren't proclaimed atheists but its very possible they want nothing to do with religion. Maybe this song is talking about that.
I truely hope i will get chance to see tarot live soon! been looking forward for that long time, really awesome music! about lyrics, i believe that it's basically denying religions, they want "sacrifices" and i think part "The ransom of your soul must be paid for your dead. The way out for us all: We'll take the jailer's head" is mostly striking down religions cause they will make us for even dying, my option of course, but in live-dvd "Undead Indeed", before this he says, "-blabla about temperature of room-But it's not even nearly as hot, as pyre where we throw all those useless gods"
I have to agree with those, who consider this song to be atheistic one. Unfortunatelly, because Tarot've got some really cool songs.
Well... this was the first Tarot
s song that Ive heard, and from that day I still believe that Tarot its the BEST band I EVER heard!!( and of course...Marco Hietala is my idol). What else can I say?I love this band and cant live without it.Can it be about that religion is just bulshit
