Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.
Respect the structure
Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.
Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)
Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.
Don’t mix versions
If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.
Let the lyrics be lyrics
This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.
Edit lightly
If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’
When in doubt, ask the crowd
Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.
I feel that this song is about being truly in love after you have been with someone for a while. The end of the third verse is actually "I knew you were my pet" not "I knew you were mine"., if you listen to the original by Phil Phillips and this one the lyrics are exactly the same, I only say this because not all of the covers on the cover record are exact covers.
I wish this song made me happy: But it doesnt.
Theres just too many negative connotations with love. For me anywway.
When you are in love with someone who will never love you back... I guess every love song is sad.
a lot of the songs in the movie Juno are simply mediocre..its just a bunch of kids with a tape recorder that put funny lil lyrics together and made a soundtrack...i thank goodness for this beautiful song for being included...i totally teared up when it came on..it was perfect... and its one of those songs that makes u want to have a special someone to dedicate it too..just angelic..beautiful..
special.k makes me feel significantly more lonely than I did before, but I can see how that completely defines this song.
Bottom line: It's beautiful.
I've listened to the original by Phil Phillips and many other versions, but this is by far my favorite. There's something about a female voice with those simple lyrics that makes it that much more powerful. Maybe it's just me...

That fuzzy feeling of love with someone who loves you back.
This song is wonderful, the first Cat Power song I heard. Her voice is gorgeous.
