The Employee Is Not Afraid Lyrics

came to me on icebergs
and bonded cell ties
and write up these letters
to question your reasons
for coming and leaving
to carry the summer
in allies and basements
you washed yourself clean
my sockets are swimming
my sockets are empty

the claim that
wire had covered your heart
and the claim that
water had entered your lungs
they called you a martyr
and they cut off your ties to the city
they called you a traitor
and they cut off your ties to the south

came to me in paintings
that highlight the sun
it branded the concept
of living and lying
to forgive the layout
and rewrite the history
a four sided story
a moundbuilders dream
my sockets are swimming
my sockets are empty

best song on the cd, quite good. can't make hide nor hair of the lyrics though. Maybe something about being unsure, but in the end it works out harmoniously, like the end of the song...just delightful harmony.

I gotta love the CD title, reputedly longer than most think "Right Now, You're In The Best Of Hands, And If Something Isn't Quite Right, Your Doctor Will Know In A Hurry"

maybe talking about some kind of book or movie. i liked the style of the song a lot.

there's a slight theme of trying to capture and smuggle or hide the summer, ties to the South and the Sun...it makes me think that this was written about letting go of home or leaving behind a summer... the section starting with "the claim that wire covered your heart" says it all: "They claimed" your metaphorical drowning and a cold, unmoving heart. if i had to go with one thing, tho, i'd say it was about being told what to do by a tyrannical/autonomic government
