Tripped Lyrics
I'm too scared to notice, the path I chose is focused tight
Crosshairs on, something's wrong, I shouldn't try to try
And baby, it's the beer that's smiling, it ain't me
Point me at the door because I've been trying to leave
Basement passions, schoolgirl action ain't in fashion now I'll miss you when you're gone so just get out
Tripped into a hole I dug every word
With my ear to the ground I loved what I heard
And I couldn't think of leaving while you're feeling down
I just rest my eyes and you blow town
Tripped into a hole, I loved what I heard
With my ear to the ground I dug every word
And I couldn't dream of leaving while you're feeling down
I just rest my eyes and you float down
Crosshairs on, something's wrong, I shouldn't try to try
And baby, it's the beer that's smiling, it ain't me
Point me at the door because I've been trying to leave
Basement passions, schoolgirl action ain't in fashion now I'll miss you when you're gone so just get out
With my ear to the ground I loved what I heard
And I couldn't think of leaving while you're feeling down
I just rest my eyes and you blow town
With my ear to the ground I dug every word
And I couldn't dream of leaving while you're feeling down
I just rest my eyes and you float down

this is what this song means to me not jake bellows: this guy just got stuck in this horrible rut, and had no clue what the fuck was going on or what to do. whatever it was, it was his life, and he could only see this one messed up path.
it was easier to stay here, than to try and work his way out of it. trying to try was not worth it. it's really sad. he is in a lot of pain, and i think he's definetly in anguish and it's pathetic.
i love it when he says, "Crosshairs on, something's wrong I shouldn't try to try. And baby it's the beer that's smiling, it ain't me. Point me at the door 'cause I've been trying to leave."
i can relate.
This song is totally posted under Bright Eyes too. I know they did it together, but the lead singer is from Neva Dinova, so why didn't anyone comment on this one? Weird... Anyway, it's a good song. When they first start singing, I seriously get goosebumps.
fuck yeah
this song is fantastic to fall asleep to. if you leave it playing while you sleep and wake up to it in the morning i swear you'll feel more relaxed and calm than normal.
"With my ear to the ground, I dug every word"
Seems like a ref to the Bright Eyes album huh?
this song is underrated
it's a shame songs as great as these don't get as much attention as others i believe this is better than some bright eyes songs
and i love that low-fi solo that gets played in there
the greatest line in there: "And baby it's the beer that's smiling, it ain't me..."
miss you, my old flame
Great song. There's stuff here everyone can relate too. "baby it's the beer that's smiling - it ain't me; so point me at that door 'cause of I've been trying to leave." for example. The song sound more about feeling trapped or stuck in one situation - "tripped into a hole I dug every word", "and I couldn't dream of leaving while you're feeling down" exemplify a feeling of being trapped - and feeling hopeless. This is my favorite tune off the split and in my opinion puts some Bright Eyes songs to shame by being this direct and brief and really just knocking the listener out with blunt, honest lyrics.
"i just rest my eyes and you blow town." i like that.
i've tripped into so many holes i've dug with words
