Well, being from AZ I absolutely adore the Format. Nate is so damn entertaining live, and such a sweet heart in person.
I love love love this song. It's quickly grown to be one of my favorites by them.
I think that it's definitely about missing someone or something, and how when you do miss that person everything just seems to remind you of them. No matter where you are, or what you're doing... everything just points back to that same person.
& I think it's also about falling in love with someone minus all of the pretentions. "Balloons or no balloons" Like he doesn't need all of the things that he needed in previous relationships to fall in love with someone. He can just love the person for who they are... & love being with them.

this song, like all of the songs by the format, is so catchy and well written. i only have the live version of it and his voice still sounds awesome.
it sounds to me like an "i miss you" song for when their touring and he cant be with her. its kindof...ironic maybe? that nate always says he doesnt really care to be home more than a couple of weeks at a time, and he would rather be touring, and yet this song seems to be about missing home, though i guess its not really home, its just janet. Also, i only have the live version and i feel like his voice is more powerful live than it is on a cd. not quite as easy sounding. its a different but eqally pleasing sound to me.
and also if he is talking about new york at the begining (which makes perfect sense)...do people all over the country refer to new york city as just "the city" cause i know people in new york state do, but i never would have guessed that the rest of the country does. i wonder if they call chicago "the other city"...haha, sorry....hey, i thought that was pretty funny.
Yes, I'm from New Jersey and people here call it "The City" here, too. It's more of a north Jersey thing. I'm in South Jersey and my first instinct when I hear "The City" is Philadelphia, since it's much closer than NYC.

Either way, I think "The City" as a nickname for any city is stupid and annoying and quite obnoxious. Just my opinion, that's all.

chicago is actually called "second city", i'm assuming in reference to being second behind new york.
correction: being from chicago, its actually known as "The Windy City" Second City is a show that is put on in chicago.
what does the ballons part mean?
I was just wondering if anyone knows why he says "i'm falling in love with you, more reasons than 22" is that his age or is there something else behind it
