For me, I suppose it's a bit more personal.
The 'faraway voice' is a loved one who has left this material plane and is now naught but a shadow on the wall or, if I imagine quietly, a very faint sound far, far away.

A beautiful song - in my opinion the best on her album 'Call off the Search'. A dedication to Eva Cassidy, one of the people she looks up to.
Has the site noticed that these lyrics are exactly the same as the set put under "Belfast"?
Well, I don't care for this as much as some of the others on 'Call Off The Search'. Similar to Belfast in that Katie wrote it by herself, but I never liked Cassidy, and this song is a bit awe-struck by her.
I think this song is haunting and beautiful. I can completely understand what she is going through, as when I first heard Eva Cassidy I said to my girlfriend at the time 'Oh we HAVE to see her she's awesome', to which i got the responce 'well...actually..she's dead'. Eva Cassidy was an awesome singer and was only really known after her premature death due to Melanoma (skin cancer). Listen to this song for Katie's haunting vocals and lyrics. Listen to Eva for beauty in a voice. Live At Blue's Alley is a great album, to have that much vocal ability..LIVE is brilliant! A talent which is gravely missed.
