If I had to guess I'd say this is a tribute of sorts to the band Selector, an older ska band from Britain
That band was 'The Selecter'. A selector was just another name for a DJ back in the Jamaican ska/reggae days. I believe selectOr is the American way of spelling it, which is interesting... as Skindred obviously aren't American.
I agree, it's about a DJ. You can tell because of the line "You get blanked like you're not even there"
