Between the Bars Lyrics
Drink up baby
Stay up all night
Things you could do
You wont but you might
The potential you'd be
You'll never see
Promises you'll only make
Drink up with me now and forget all about
Pressure of days
Do what i say
And I'll make you ok
And Drive them away
The Images stuck in your head
People
You've been before
That you
Don't wont
around anymore
That push
shove
Wont' bend to your will
I'll keep them still
Drink up babe Look at the stars
And I'll kiss you again
Between the bars
Where I'm seeing you there
Hands in the air
Waiting to finally be caught
Drink up one more time and I'll make you mine
And Keep you apart deep in my heart
separate from the rest
Where I like you the best
keep the things you forgot
people you've been before
that you
don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still
Stay up all night
Things you could do
You wont but you might
The potential you'd be
You'll never see
Promises you'll only make
Drink up with me now and forget all about
Pressure of days
Do what i say
And I'll make you ok
And Drive them away
The Images stuck in your head
You've been before
That you
Don't wont
around anymore
That push
shove
Wont' bend to your will
I'll keep them still
Drink up babe Look at the stars
And I'll kiss you again
Between the bars
Where I'm seeing you there
Hands in the air
Waiting to finally be caught
And Keep you apart deep in my heart
separate from the rest
Where I like you the best
keep the things you forgot
people you've been before
that you
don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still

This place truly is full of snobby bastards. "I LOVE HIS MUSIC MORE THAN YOU DO!!!"
Get the fuck over yourself.
But yeah, this versions amazing, do prefer the original, but that's unsurprising, Elliott was a god.
this song is beautiful. I love it just as much as the original recording by Elliot Smith. Its a sad and lonely piece about the heartache of alcholism...
"drink up babe, look at the stars And I'll kiss you again Between bars Where I'm seeing you there Hands in the air Waiting to finally be caught"
This version of Elliot Smiths melancholic song is just absolutely breathtaking Madeleine Peyrouxs moody vocal and the jazzy beat go perfect with the bittersweet lyrics. I heard it for the first time yesterday, by coincidence and I just fell in love with it instantly. I’m defiantly getting her album as quick as possible.
I find it sad that, thats all you have to say.
proposals got a point ...
What else is there to say? If I want to decipher the lyrics, I'll do it on Elliott's page, because you know, he actually wrote the lyrics. She does a nice adaptation, but if you guys are going to comment on Elliott, at least spell his name correctly.
I find it funny that neither of you spelled Elliott Smith's named correctly.
