I think this about two people that loved each other but couldn't be together for some reason and the girl is trying to sort of trick herself into not loving him. Kind of reminds me of the song Someday We'll Know by New Radicals.

I think this song is about a gay couple, and the one that's singing is aking to his partner to say he is gay, just like him, so they won't have to hide from people, or they break up.
