I guess you don't need it
I guess you don't want me to repeat it
But everything I have to give I'll give to you

It's not like we planned it
You tried to stay, but you could not stand it
To see me shut down slow
As though it was an easy thing to do
Listen when
All of this around us will fall over

I tell you what we're gonna do
Hey, you will shelter me, my love
And I, I will shelter you
I will shelter you

I left you heartbroken
But not until those very words were spoken
Has anybody ever made such a fool out of you

It's hard to believe it
Even as my eyes do see it
The very things that make you live are killing you
Listen when all of this around us will fall over

I tell you what we're gonna do
Hey, you will shelter me, my love
And I, I will shelter you
I will shelter you
I will shelter you
I will shelter you
I will shelter you

Listen when
All of this around us will fall over
I tell you what we're gonna do
Hey, you will shelter me, my love
And I, I will shelter you
If you shelter me too
I will shelter you
I will shelter you

Regardless of the meaning Ray intended it for, this will be my wedding song. Promising to shelter one another for the rest of each other's lives during our first close embrace together as man and wife through this song...I can't think of a more perfect memory.

I feel like an ass coming so late to the Ray party . . . he has inspired me to take up the guitar. I think that is song can mean so many different things. I am all about the chorus: "All of this around us'll fall over I tell you what we're gonna do You will shelter me my love And I will shelter you I will shelter you" May be too simplistic but, I feel like he means that all the shit in life will come and go, but what will always be there is this imperfect love between two people sheltering each other from the storm.

i think this song is about a couple who used to date and somehow things dried up between them but they still have this strong attraction to one another. During their separation they build different lives but they understand that its only temporary, and once these separate lives fall apart they will still have eachother.

The live version of this song is much better than the album version - Ray evokes so much more conviction emotion. Beyond that, however, the constant and repetitive refrain "I will shelter you" so aptly describes love - the thing one lover wants to do to the other and what the one wants the other to do.

I think it's about two people that have broken up, and have no intentions of getting back together, but they still love each other and would do anything for one another. It very lovely.

i think this song is about him apologising for something that hes done, that he keeps hurting her and he wants forgiveness and another try "Iguess you dont need it i guess you dont want me to repeat it" means that he always says this when he lets her down. "its not like we planned it" meaning he somethingmite have happened between them to cause this" "to see me shut down so low as if it was an easy thing to do" meaning the thing that happened effected him badly and it wasnt easy. the shelter part of the song is about being there fore each other through everything no matter how hard life gets sheltering each other is all they need but he needs her to shelter her only if she does the same. i love the bit were he softly says "if you shelter me too" meaning he needs to be sheltered more i suppose because hes going through a rough time" quality song. love it.

It's just a beautiful song about what and how you should love. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes its hard but the ones we love cannot always be the strong

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
