Rip It Up Lyrics
It's like Clockwork Orange a bit of twenty on one
Breaking heads well that don't sound like much fun
Is that your only way of getting kicks
By breaking heads you can't fix
Do you think you're tough
Because you rip it up
Gotta rip you up
Do yo gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
I've had enough of violence
Just to kill boredom makes no sense
We're not the background for your stupid fights
Get out of the darkness it's time to unite
Do you think you're tough
Because you rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Breaking heads well that don't sound like much fun
Is that your only way of getting kicks
By breaking heads you can't fix
Because you rip it up
Gotta rip you up
Do yo gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Just to kill boredom makes no sense
We're not the background for your stupid fights
Get out of the darkness it's time to unite
Because you rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up
Gotta rip it up

you know
The Adolescents hit on so many issues and they are always dead on
the point is
fighting doesn't make you a man fighting makes you feared not respected
it kind of fits right in with the second or third (can't remember exactly) of "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" by the Dead Kennedys.
It's about mindless violence
The jock douches punching each other (and random bystanders) in the pit at every show need to listen to this song a little closer...
fuck the karate kids
In fact, that's exactly what this song is about.
"we're not the background for your stupid fights"
Quit going to shows to hit kids.
This song was written in direct response to all the violence instigated by gangs and jocks at punk shows in LA and Orange County in the 80's. That probably seems obvious, but Rikk Agnew himself confirmed this to me when I talked to him after a show years back.
