I looked to the sky
Saw my body die
Got to reappear up there
It's where I want to be
In the university
I've found, I've found my own college
I've found, I've found a way to resolve this
I’m not inside you
You're all around me
Is this what you needed to hear to comfort you?
I will wait all of this time above you
Is this what you wanted?
Is this what you needed to hear?
Take all that I have known
Is this what you wanted?
Is this what you need me to fear?
Take all that I have found
I'm not inside you
You're all around me
Is this what you needed to hear to comfort you
I'll wait all this time above you
I looked to the ground
I was pleased with what I'd found
Got to reappear up here
It’s where I will always be
In the university
I've found, I've found all my problems
I'm gone, I'm gone finally solve this
I'm not inside you
You're all around me
Is this what you needed to have to comfort you
I'll wait all this time above you
Saw my body die
Got to reappear up there
It's where I want to be
In the university
I've found, I've found my own college
I've found, I've found a way to resolve this
You're all around me

i noticed that it sounded like there were some backmasking sounds at the end of the song and i played it backwards and its sounds like hes saying "save us". if this is right it adds more meaning to the song.
It's actually saying "from the ins... from the ins... from the ins..." which is an example of Jamais Vu.

You have heard "from the inside out we were formed" earlier in the album on the song Sang Real, but when it's played back like this, it seems foreign as if you've never experienced it before.

I've never heard of this song. What album is it off of?

its a Coquette demo... not on a record. theyve been playing it live a lot lately and there's leaks of it all over the internet. we're not supposed to be sharing them though, the leak of the demos really pissed off the band cos the demos are all super super rough and unmastered and stuff. don't do the music justice. nevertheless, its possibly the best song dredg has written for the new record.
this is probably old news. and it's not entirely related to the meaning of this song, and it's probably not accurate. but a friend told me that gavin muttered something at a concert about Coquette being their last release before they break up. can anyone confirm this?
to make this comment valid: In my opinion, the lyrics are about being in a relationship with someone who demands that you give up yourself for their gain-- lying so they feel better and such.
i think its about a woman who controls the relationship too much to the point where it makes no sense to be in the relationship.
Not sure on the meaning of the song, but i know what the title means. Jamias Vu literally translates as "never seen" its another one of the "vu"s (eg. deja vu). It refers to when an object or person that you have known for years suddenly looks alien and out of place. For example, if you had a chair in your room, and you walked in one day and it seemed like youd never seen it before.
Hope that helps in some way, also, there is another "vu", Presque vu. And the reason i know this is because its in catch 22, so go and read it fools
One of the best songs I've heard in my life -- simply surreal.
In the final studio version on Catch Without Arms, the lyric in the final verse is clearly heard as "displeased with what I found" (not "was pleased").
This song is so great. It's the best one off of the new album, in my opinion. Though, they're all good.
if i relate this song (Jamais Vu) to myself... -its about me who skipped my college life and be a selftaught... where im not rely on anybody eg. lecturer or parents... THIS SONG ALWAYS INSPIRES ME TO BE TOUGH AND STRONG TO FACE THIS LIFE... basically what i understand about this is... -its about someone who finally found a way to solve his probs after being used by people around him.
The sound of the drums in this song is excellent! Really suit the beat and the lyric! 100% A++
Actually the analysis of all the songs by Dredg are in this page: http://www.defyperception.net/dredg/catchwithoutarms.htm
I think is the most accurate meaning you can ever find. This record is amazing.
