Rolling Sly Stone Lyrics
I should be on my way
I really ought not stay
Far to strong, pin up on
Hear my conscience "I'm gone!"
I should have let you know
This boy was made to roam
The band is who I'm married to
And this is what god said to do
I let my motor stray
Forgive me where I play
Sending my love to a Tennessee
She got style now lets see
I remember who
to surrender to
The captain of my ship is brave
It's brother's hood on a mother's day
Do do do dit do
Do do do dit do
Do do do dit do
Do do do dit do
I show enough I love you
I show enough I do
So just remember who you
Who you surrender to
I'm off to wonderland
Just in my second hand
Life is short but ain't it grand
I'm a way outside but in demand
I'll take it on my chin
Go back and forth again
Find me on some telephone
With a broken down voice and a shaky tone
Do unto others who
You would have do to you
Ain't no way I'd ever trade
That sparer life for this piece of shade
Destined for battle zone
Why's there no lesson on
The lesson's not to wait for me
Unless you got a taste for the bittersweet
Do do do dit do
Do do do dit do
Do do do dit do
Do do do dit do
I show enough I love you
I show enough I do
So just remember who you
Who you surrender to
Let your joy decide
Let your joy decide
Everything we do
Let your joy decide
Let your joy decide
Everything we do
Let your motor ride
Let your motor ride
Everything we do
Ow, hit me
Do do do dit do
Do do do dit do
Do do do dit do
Do do do dit do
I show enough I love you
I show enough I do
So just remember who you
Who you surrender to
We could have made it our love
We could have steered it through
So just remember who you
Who you surrender to
I really ought not stay
Far to strong, pin up on

Wow, I absolutely love this song! I think it's one of their best. I'm not a huge fan of RHCP, but this song is really great!
I think this song is great, and that it shows them getting back to their roots a little, cuz it seems to me like it's just a little funky, especially the bassline. i can't believe that there aren't more comments on this one, but maybe that's because it's on the live album that wasn't released everywhere. anyway, i think it's about being on tour all the time. not that it matters what it means, because it kicks ass.
Definitely a song to crank while driving...
God, I bought Hyde Park awhile ago, and I was listening to it on the way back to my house, and I decided I wanted to listen to one of the new songs... I almost shit myself! I LOVE THIS SONG.
It reminds me SO much of "If You Want Me to Stay," which is definitely one of my favorite songs in the world... but I really think this might be one of the best songs they've ever written.
i was there on the recording - hehe :-D. it was amaaaaaaaaaaaaazing. my voice and picture got to number one in the uk charts :-p
.....ok so i may be as tiny as a pin head in the picture and i am part of the crowd etc. BUT I WAS STILL THERE!!!!
does is song reflect any history of sly and the family stone. esp. sly stone's history.
this song does have a sly and the family stone feel like "if you want me to stay"
wow amaaaazing song! it's stuck in my head so easily but it's not annoying! this cd is sooo goood. everyone should own it. i can't wait for the chili pepper's new album....i'm very anxious!!
I love this song!Easily my new favorite chili song.I think it may seem obvious that its about Sly Stone and his wife (who split up very soon after marrying reportedly 'cuz of touring and his devotion to music),but i think its about the general strain touring can have on a relationship.
K, whoever said it reminds you of "If you want me to stay" then that is because that song was written by Sly "Rolling" Stone. This song is an ode to him and his style, he was funk legend and how can a band like the Chilis make an ode to a funk legend without making it a funk song.
