Dalston Lyrics

It's a big big world
And you can do what you like
You can do anything you want
Because darling, it's your life
But don't go back to Dalston
Don't go up the junction
Don't go round the houses

But just come back to me
Come back to me
Come back to me
Come back to me

It's a big big world
And you can do take your time
You've got your friends
And I've got mine

Don't go back to Dalston
And no, don't go up the junction
Don't go round the houses

But just come back to me
Come back to me
Come back to me
Come back to me

Come back, come back, come back

This song is about Pete Doherty apparently. Dalston is a really rough part of London famous for gangs and drugs.

wow really amazing song...different to all their other songs as well. i dont know london, but is dalston a really rough area or sumthing? it sound heart wrenchingly desperate as well, like he really wants his friend back.

I had no idea this was about pete (glad to see he appears to be getting clean) i really like this song i think its an overlooked highlight of up all night

the song may look like its about pete but im afraid to say its not its actually a love song when johnny was going out with a girl and she lived in dalston and everynight when she went home he wanted her to say, he said in an interview that in someways he can see how people relate it to pete doherty and he thinks its cool but he wrote it as a love song

i think maybe in that interview johnny was just trying to protect pete doherty.........the are far too many references to him and his lifestyle for it not to be... "don't go round the houses" clearly refers to the council estates in dalston, famous for housing crackheads and dealers.. it is a plea for pete to just get off the drugs and get away from the people that are supplying him eith them

I Live In London, Dalston is one of the roughest areas in the city. Its the kind of place, where you would rather take a huge detour than go through it, and i take jonny's advice. i Never go to Dalston!!, im not surprised this song is about Pete. Its not hard to get hold of drugs if you go to Dalson

I'm confused. I heard this song was about Pete Doherty, which is made abundently clear saying "Don't go back to Daston". However, when it uses words like darling, and says "come on back to me" its sounds more like a love song. Maybe a girlfriend who was on drugs? I dunno.
