Which Way Is Out? Lyrics

This party isn't working, oh no
Yeah we need to find days like we used to
Living off a shoe string
never never knew what the night would bring
Now you look like you've been up for days
People come in
People walk out
There's really not much to shout about

Still you rack em up, knock em back
Line em up, put them down
Have a little taste, then you work it out

Yeah you rack em up, knock em back
Line em up, put them down
Have a little taste, then you figure out
And it all comes out

And I said I just can't get there, no more
So tell me which way is out?
You said I just can't get there, no more
So tell me which way is out?

And I put your picture right up on my wall
And I said show me how to walk
Show me how to talk
Show me how to be a man
That's all I need

I really put all my faith in you
But then you left right there
At the top of the stairs
With your mind half gone
And you never even cared

Still you rack em up, knock em back
Line em up, put them down
Have a little taste, then you work it out

Yeah you rack em up, knock em back
Line em up, put them down
Have a little taste, then you figure out
And it all comes out

And I said I just can't get there, no more
So tell me which way is out?
You said I just can't get there, no more
So tell me which way is out?
Tell me which way is out?
Tell me which way is out?
Tell me which way is out?
I never know
I never know

Simple enough, drug use which eventually got too bad, and the realisation that it's not as good as it was at first.

First comment pretty much sums it up, good song.

It Could be about drug use but i always saw it as like someone like a son with a dad who was a alcoholic "show me how to walk show me how to talk show me how to be a man!" and how he lets him down

I've been listening to this song for years. It became a favourite when I first heard it and it is still a fave. I don't believe this song has anything to do with drugs at all. Bit surprised that anyone would think so. Definitely about a relationship, could be a parent, could be a lover. But the general gist is that the singer is tired and is wanting to get out of the tangled mess his life is in. This is a powerful song and great for when you are in a confused state with your own life.
