She's a million miles away from me
Separated by a hollow wooden door
And some time we can't erase
Serves me right to let her in
The first time she knocked
And all this wandering
Got you nothing
And you were ready to
But never could
Things you never saw in me she'll see
Observations that she'd heard from other people
But she never understood
Serves her right not knowing
Just exactly what she wants
And all this wandering
Got me nothing
And you were ready to
But never could
Are you happy wandering?
Remember sitting on a car that night
Clouds rolled out
Unveiling lights around the bay
And you told me all those things
Remember that
You told me you can't match your clothes
Remember that
I confessed that when I laugh sometimes I'm cryin'
And then we sat and
Didn't talk for half-an-hour
Remember that
alone
'Cause I won't remember anymore
And all this wandering
And all this wandering
Separated by a hollow wooden door
And some time we can't erase
Serves me right to let her in
The first time she knocked
Got you nothing
And you were ready to
But never could
Observations that she'd heard from other people
But she never understood
Serves her right not knowing
Just exactly what she wants
Got me nothing
And you were ready to
But never could
Clouds rolled out
Unveiling lights around the bay
And you told me all those things
Remember that
You told me you can't match your clothes
Remember that
I confessed that when I laugh sometimes I'm cryin'
And then we sat and
Didn't talk for half-an-hour
alone
'Cause I won't remember anymore
And all this wandering

this song is so sad.
i agree.
especially the part "remember that, alone, cause i wont, remember, anymore..."
It's such a bittersweet song....what do others think of this song? It's one of my favorite Ben songs...
To me its about a reationship, where the two seem to be in an argument hence She's a million miles away from me Separated by a hollow wooden door And some time we can't erase Serves me right to let her in The first time she knocked beacause the girl/guy started to hear things from her friends and others that the guy/girl was up to no good, they then start to wonder about it and it caused them to split. But really he/she really did do nothing bad at all And all he wants to remember is that night they spent by the bay. "Saying hey remember I always love you.".
Which is exactly how i feel about my girl. She listened to her friends and they where kinda right. and since she wondered about it so much it drove us apart. But i only want her to know that no matter what i still love her.

I think some of you have it all wrong. She isn't "Wondering" around and about. She is "Wandering" as in walking around - maybe even seeing other people?
She's a million miles away from me Separated by a hollow wooden door And some time we can't erase Serves me right to let her in The first time she knocked -Maybe the girl is behind the door with someone else?
And all this wandering Got you nothing And you were ready to But never could -All of this Wandering (walking around/sleeping around/going to other people) didn't bring her anywhere.
Things you never saw in me she'll see Observations that she'd heard from other people But she never understood Serves her right not knowing Just exactly what she wants -Her friends and other peers tell her she can have something more, someone else - and the one she is with isn't the one for her. She is confused because she doesn't know what she wants.

"and you were ready to but never could..."
oh this song is perfect... i wish i could tell him how much i care but i end up sayin see ya later instead and wandering around on my own thinking its better for both of us..
who knows.
I'm pretty sure that this song is about not knowing exactly what you want in a relationship. The girl in this song is unsure about the relationship and hence "wanders", which is probably a reference to her trying out other men and such. This song is basically the narrator saying that he's been patient for long enough and can no longer stand by idly and wait for her to make up her mind, because she's probably fairly capricious.
You know what? THE WHOLE EP OF SPEED GRAPHIC IS SAD! They're all heartbroken songs... except "Dog", that one just catches me off guard.
Did anybody see the movie 100 Girls that this was in? I like how they used it in that scene. The guy had finally found the girl he had been searching for, and at that time she didn't want him because it took him so long to realize that it was her who he loved. You'd have to see the movie completely to understand what I'm saying right here, but I see it all the time for sale at Best Buy. Suckers. I bought mine on DVD in the cheap bin at K-Mart.
I think everyone else though has the meaning right. It's just about a guy who's sick of waiting for her to make up her mind, and just saying, "You know what, you just lost the greatest thing you never had, and what do you have to show for it?" I love it.
I almost started crying in the first few lines of this song.
for no reason other than that it SOUNDS sad.
amazing.
