The Deepest Gray Lyrics

Could blood not be so sweet or flow enough to sustain two hundred nine tomorrow's rise and I'm alone again
Please not this way so sweet on my tounge it burns away
An empty promise fills my veins with lies

The deepest gray forever lives inside of me
but I am not afraid, for I have lived this agony

And time ticks slowly forward towards the break of day
Five seven nine arrival more fuel for disarray
Be still my tounge for I know not what I say
My life is lived in darkness and here I'll remain

And so the night wears on
And so my patience thins
I now walk through this fire
To purify the sins

And so the night wears on
And so my patience thins
To my eyes dawn in horror
'Cause I'm alone again

pretty self-explanatory..the deepest gray being the darkness inside of him, and he is condemned to a terrible punishment in order to "purify the sins"

I'm not sure what the numbers mean, but it's a pretty bad ass song :)

Back on the old ATR's forums a few years ago when this CD came out Phil answered a question about the numbers in this song. It went something like this

"209 is the number of days the girl (the song is about) and i were together. 5, 7 and 9 are times. that's all i'm saying about it"

it's coming from a vampires point of veiw. who's in love with this girl but can't stay with her cuz he's vampire.

"Could blood not be so sweet or flow enough to sustain two hundred nine tomorrow's rise and I'm alone again"

like rev23dev said he was with a girl for 209 days but the blood he has in him wont last that long. so by "tommorrow's rise." he's alone because he has to leave her.

"The deepest gray forever lives inside of me but I am not afraid, for I have lived this agony"

It's the darkness that he's wrapped himself into, but he he's not afraid of it because he's been like this forever.

the "walk through this fire" part is cool because vampires can't walk amongst the sun so he's gunna kill himself to end the pain his been in.

And so the night wears on And so my patience thins

To my eyes dawn in horror 'Cause I'm alone again I think here he's saying it's over and his "eyes dawn in horror" such a cool line. it's no coincidence that he used dawn as a double meaning there. dawn as in awaken to the horror, and dawn as in the sun is rising.

the entire song he's waiting for the sun to rise because he's sick of not being able to be with the girl

I think the song is written as a vampire, which makes me love it so much more. It would be perfect for the new Twilight movie coming out. It's about a vampire that falls in love with a human girl and he struggles with whether or not he can be with her because he knows he shouldn't (it's not safe for her) but at the same time he has no reason to go on without her in his life

I think i found out what 5 - 7 - 9 arrival means. I think he is waiting for his girl who supposed to be there at Five o'clock but then she shows up at nine. The seven inbetween stands for a line of uneven numbers as the event. It's fuel for disarray
