uhhh you guys are idiots once agian this song is called slow dance off the cd let it infold u once agian i have the cd and i loe this song and the whole cd senses fail is amazing and i think senses fail should no wat they are talking about with the whole thing geist is takling about they have a master in poetry you should do you reasearch before you start your bullshit their very spiritual people actually and i only did this to find the meaning to this song and found idiots talking shit on it and i found my meaning from people that arent so stupid so thank you guys

Senses Fail was on Drive-Thru, no wonder there are 'poser' fans. I haven't heard the term 'poser' since I was a 12 year old skater just learning how to kickflip condescending upon everyone else that sucked worse than I did. You'll learn soon enough that the 'poser' fans won't last. And, they don't matter. Get over yourself, Senses Fail is too big to be concerned about 'poser' fans, because to someone, you're a poser fan too.
threexover has many good points...this song is sick though...i'm not sure what the songs means...i think it's about like...balancing everything out...cus how he talks about pulling the rope too hard...and it will break...that could mean like...if you try at something too hard...you'll fail...but then if you leave some slack...it won't hold...if you don't try hard enough at something, it won't happen. I don't know what i'm talking about really.
this and angela baker & my obsession with fire are the two best songs on the cd....everything else is awesome but these two just rock

bballmann34, i think your on the right track there. this song seems really zen and slightly nihilistic to me. the message seems to be that if you want balance in your life, you need to just let it happed (let it enfold you), and wheather the bad shit. this is a central idea in taoism, where you should model the river and bear the rocks in the stream. this song was actually taken from the teachings of a taoist book (the name escapes me)
This song is based on the 9th chapter/passsage of Dao De Jing book or teachings. I'm not quite sure what it's technically called. The passage reads "Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt. Chase after your money and security and your heart will never unclench. Care about people's approval and you will be their prisoner. Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity."
I think the song is about, freeing yourself of extremes and of what others think of you. The chorus about "trapped in our own private hells" refers to the line in the passage about being others prisoner and the part about "the broken hearts that are soaked with fear" refers to seeking for approval that you never win.
the song to me means dont try to hard at life but dont just go through life without a care this is one of my favorite songs on the new cd SENSES FAIL RULES!!!!
