i fell in love with this song the moment i heard it! i love the beat to it. but then i actually took some time and read the lyrics. the song is easy to understand. but i am having trouble with the ending.... behind every "yes" is a thousand "no's" (got that part) but what about "that's 999, only one more to go" ????
It means, he's heard the word 'no' so many times, he's feeling hopeful that the next time or so, he will have a positive outcome. (That's what I took from it anyway) 999 no's + one more no= 1 yes.

I love this song as well (in fact I joined this board just to write this comment, hows that for dedication). the line "that's 999, only one more to go", thats the writer acknowledging that only one more rejection will lead to the reconciliation he seeks (can we start over/I wanna be new). I think this is my favorite Virgil song, but I really do love them all
