The Faded Line Lyrics
Witness shame's parade, the pain of blame repaid
It's fucking hopeless
Accusations and denial
Hopeless... demon of another day
Colorless... stoned, solid grey
Emptiness... of promises I made
So faithless... the tenants long betrayed
Walk the faded line, cursed crawl of time
Silence, the only promise ever kept
Familiar touch, a ritual to numb the cut
Salvation in vice
Anguish is realizing what could have been, but never was
It's emptiness that fills the cup
Devotion in the method of my fall
Pointless... futility continuing
Endless... flowing corrupted vein
Walk the faded line, cursed crawl of time
Silence, the only promise ever kept
It's fucking hopeless
Hopeless
It's fucking hopeless
Accusations and denial
Colorless... stoned, solid grey
Emptiness... of promises I made
So faithless... the tenants long betrayed
Silence, the only promise ever kept
Salvation in vice
Anguish is realizing what could have been, but never was
It's emptiness that fills the cup
Devotion in the method of my fall
Endless... flowing corrupted vein
Silence, the only promise ever kept
Hopeless

Drug addiction, its all about the drugs.
the line "Familiar touch, a ritual to numb the cut, Salvation in vice " is a clear refrence to addiction.
the familiarity you have with the drug, the ritual of preperation before the drug can be used, and the numbing of the cut. numbing the craving. or posably numbing a past pain.
there are loadsa other things that give you the idea its about drug addiction, like "devotion in the methord of my fall" but there all pretty self explanitory so ima not bother.
"walk the faded line" makes me think of coke...
You know the expression, "You've crossed the line" or what ever, well I think the meaning of the title/lines "The Faded Line" is that something is wrong (alcohol, anger issues, drugs, abuse, some political thing) or what ever is is causing this person to not know when "They've crossed the line" and that the area between right and wrong is very "grey" if you know what I mean.
One of Lamb of God's best, the breakdown at the end that sounds like a air raid siren is badass

Sad to see people relating the lyrics to this song to scripture. The faded line is the "zombie path" addicts and alcoholics take to satisfy their vice. I've loved this song long before actually relating to it. You really won't fully understand if you're smart or lucky enough to never let a substance dictate your life. Many comments explain it. They drive home the phrase: "it's fucking hopeless" over interpret any other lyric your want. Bottom line, "the faded line" is a song about realizing a substance abuse problem exists in oneself.
Maybe the dude's so used to being high he feels weird when he's not high. Thus, the faded line between being under the influence of a drug and reality.
I think it is about alchohol addiction and how it gets harder and harder to maintain any sense of normality in your life, when all that you can think about is your next drink.
i agree with you guys but i just have to say this song is awesome!
DangrA loves poo, i didnt look at it that way, i thought it was how living life was, "walk the faded line, cursed crawl of time" like when people are manicly depressed and suicidel
i never thought about it but i think song might be about drugs and or alcohol and saying how its hopeless to try and quit when your so addicted to something
i can definitely see the addiction aspect. but i think its more just about the general hopelessness and such of life, and how it just gradually gets worse and just plain sucks.

It's his interpretation of the song, for fuck's sake. Is it obligatory for a metal song to have lyrics of subjects like rape and brutal slaughter, but not emotion? Go fuck yourself.

What about the verse "silence, the only promise ever kept?" is this refering to things that might get put off because of highs? like hes high and he promised to do something but got high instead and couldnt do what he promised maybe? or am i being retarded i dont know, most of my interpretations have been way off compared to other peoples
Yeah, it might mean that because of his drug addiction the promise he can keep is one he didn't make.
