Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.

I have to say i kind of agree with whiffet. I love the Lips, but I feel like they have been too simplistic when it comes to religion.
"And if God hears all my questions Well, how come there's never an answer?" is a dumb question that is really not a good atheist argument. I have no problem with atheists, and again I love the Lips, but a dumb question.
