Abra Cadaver Lyrics

ah no what's wrong with me
i got no vision to see
i was the target of a notion of submission see
oh yeah they needed me,
yeah i was the target see
they tried to stick a dead body inside of me

need no
need no alibi
honestly i tell no lies
wanted to stick an office worker inside of me

but i kept breaking free
they could not capture me
i pulled maneuvers that were closer
to savage see
bad bad
they tried to stick a dead body inside of me

bad bad
come again i tell no lies

so now you understand
i was a wanted man
the opposition and the bug of a shiny hand
but ah no this i see
there's nothing wrong with me
there's no deadbeat regime rider inside of me

need no
need no alibi
honestly i tell no lies
wanted nothing stuck in me
bad bad
they tried to stick a dead body inside of me
wanted nothing stuck in me

I think he's saying here that people want him to be someone he's not. Someone boring like an "office worker" for instance. He refuses.

The Hives rock! I think the song is about being falsely accused of murder.

The song reminds me of drug-usage. If you've watched the music video, there are repetitive scenes involving Pelle and the members associated with prescription drug canisters.

It gives me the impression that the people that are trying to prescribe him with whatever medication are forcing it upon him like an 'alibi', hence 'I need no, need no alibi'. The reference of syringes and such in the music video also suggest the self-usage of drugs in general, which would make the 'They' of the song the drugs themselves.

'Bad, bad' may be either reprimanding himself, or incoherently struggling with whoever or whatever he is fighting against.

(Superdam's explanation is thirded.)

A horror film director that the band liked that made b movie horros directed it and one other video at thier request....I noticed the prescriptions also....I think it is because ppl might have thought that he was wating his life being in a band, and they perscriptions were a way to fix it (think of modern day society and the over use of prescriptions) also, the horror director could have wanted it in there...

I think the song is about not wanting to work for "the man" like a lot of hives songs....

The lyrics kind of remind me of some kind of government experiment. I agree with superdam, though. Perhaps it's about an experiment and it's a metaphor?

Anyway, love, love, LOVE this song. My favorite by The Hives.

Do the Hives like the Simpsons? Cause I just saw a clip where Mr. Burns pulls a speech away from a corpse where he says "Abra Cadaver"
