It's "everybody know", not "everybody knows"
He's imploring us to realize that we ARE, DAM*IT!
This song, like Reasons, are the best examples of Built to Spill's capacity to create truly beautiful love songs. The guitar is his tool to express everything they don't have words for here. Many times, language can just act as a restrictive straight jacket when it comes to trying to communicate the ineffable feelings floating through our minds. Music is one of the few things that can reach these deep, darkened rooms in our souls and bring them to light. This song is a wonderful example of expressing how you feel to someone you love so much, doing it in this way is the only way.
i cant believe I am the first to post about this song. the music itself is amazing. the lyrics are good but limited. but I love the music on this song.
really this is a good song good and simple cant go wrong with that
hell yes. this is my favorite bts song just because its so peaceful. when he sings "you are" and then the guitar plays a beautiful part i think hes writing about someone he thinks is so beautiful and perfect he cant say it in words so he plays a great solo to describe how he feels.
ugh, I love this song...
I agree that he is talking about someone who is so... he can't even put it into words, and he doesn't need to because you can feel from the guitar solo that this person is amazing. I think to a woman that would be the best compliment, the music displays the emotion of how beautiful he thinks she is, and there's no need for words.
also, I think that this song conveys the feeling of love better than any love song. because it's when you try to explain why you love someone and you can't, you just do because they are perfect in your mind and they are just so... everything. and the part about everybody knowing is the idea that how could everyone not? because to you it is so obvious that this person is so beautiful.
Taps into the universal idea of a desire to express something to someone, or something that cannot really be expressed in words. In this case, Martsch requires the use of his guitar to let that person know all those things they don't have words for here.
You are...existing right now, in this moment.
You are...alive.
I think a lot of people go through life without fully realizing what that means.
