I love all the different meanings you people are making, seriously, the one about U.S. foreign policy was classic. Now I'll toss my own meaning in there:

Personally I see this song from the perspective of "Jim" watching "Bob" push away a woman Bob loves, Jim sees this as stupid and immature (She's just like you so why keep doing what you do? why cut a friend?) and Jim is wondering why Bob is still subjecting himself to this despair (You could have heel-toed to another place)

Jim eventually comes to the conclusion that Bob can't let go (I know your heart can't grieve), but he also can't commit (What your eyes won't see).

Wings in this context means friends, Jim is concerned (Worried and wondering) because Bob is losing all his friends due to his heart problems. If your wings fall down you lose all your support and can't maintain flight.

The dreams he's talking about are really Bob's future. He's losing all his friends (all your wings are falling down) and his life is going down the drain (all your dreams are over now) because Bob's lost the ability to love (I know your heart can't grieve) and he's willfully blind to his pain (what your eyes won't see).

What an amazing song. This band doesn't get the recognition it should, it's truly an amazing song, as are all of theirs.

Not sure what it's about, but it's perfect to listen to at 2 am.

the chorus gives this song a very sad feeling. I always liken it to someone havin no dreams cause they have been maimed in a horrific car accident.

the rapping part is proabbly the best bit in the song.

I COMPLETLY agree with Bright Eyes although i hate Bright Eyes. No offense. This band rocks my socks off i don't understand why they're not famous. In one way, id wanna keep them all to myself...but in another, i want people to listen to this brilliant sound.

He's pissed at somebody in this song. All his dreams are over cause he's an asshole and ruins everything for himself and he's too stupid to realize it. The best part is, "leave your tread mill power trip behind." Cause, like, if you're on a treadmill, you keep walking, but you don't get anywhere, and that's where his power trip is getting him.

Also, "It's best that your so so blind because your heart can't grieve what your eyes won't see." Pretty amazing.

The song is not about him being pissed at himself hes pissed as some girl that left him because she thought she was better then him. The "treadmill powertirp" is about this chick who has this body because she works out and got confidence from it. "you've got me worried and wondering" means hes scared if there are more people like her out there but wonders if he should be scared at himself for thinking the way he does. It is not so much about love as it is about loss. That chick dumped him hard and fast thats why her "heart cant grieve" he doesnt think she cares at all. The rapping part is all there experences that culminated to the chick leaving him. Poor guy...
