Nothing New Lyrics
I found myself wrong again
Staring out my window
Wondering what it is I should have said
I found myself at home again
Waiting for the after call
The fallout that feels like such a mess
Ohhhh I can only be myself
I'm sorry that's hell for you
Heyyy so what's my damage today
Don't let me get in your way
Let it out like you always do
The trouble between me and you
Is nothing new
So I listen to you complain and then
I bite my tongue in vain again
As I let it all just slowly settle in
Such a pretty picture that you paint
I'm so vow while you're insane
Funny how your eyes see thick not thin
Ohhhh I can only be myself
You're lookin for someone else
Heyyy so what's my damage today
Don't let me get in your way
Let it out like you always do
The trouble between me and you
Is nothing new
You know how to give but you can't take it
It's all just a waste now you can save it
No matter what I do
Is never good enough, never good enough
Heyyy so what's my damage today
Don't let me get in your way
Let it out like you always do
The trouble between me and you
Is nothing new
Is nothing new
Save your breath cause here comes the truth
I'm over the drama of you
And that's something new
Staring out my window
Wondering what it is I should have said
I found myself at home again
Waiting for the after call
The fallout that feels like such a mess
I'm sorry that's hell for you
Heyyy so what's my damage today
Don't let me get in your way
Let it out like you always do
The trouble between me and you
Is nothing new
I bite my tongue in vain again
As I let it all just slowly settle in
Such a pretty picture that you paint
I'm so vow while you're insane
Funny how your eyes see thick not thin
You're lookin for someone else
Heyyy so what's my damage today
Don't let me get in your way
Let it out like you always do
The trouble between me and you
Is nothing new
It's all just a waste now you can save it
No matter what I do
Is never good enough, never good enough
Don't let me get in your way
Let it out like you always do
The trouble between me and you

i hope i get this right, even though there is really no way to get a song meaning right cause we interpret it in different ways depending on what we hear in the lyrics and the vibe.
she singing about how just havng got into a fight with her bf and about the ridiculous stuff that follows and how silly stuff like that it always happens and ends the same way.
Probably one of the best songs on the Autobiography CD.
very good song
@ toolostinyou
don't you think that it ends different this time? it looks to me like she realised that she is over him and got enough of all the fighting and the following.
it lookz to me tht it aint about her bf?!!! i think itz about her family ive had trubble wiv my dad she had trubble wiv hers..this is how i feel!!!!!
I really don't think this is song is about a boyfriend--it seems more directed towards a father/mother, a superior of hers. That's my take on it...and has anyone else noticed how much Ashlee complains about her parents/superiors and yet at like EVERY award show or public appearance she's seen posing with her creepy father and acting like a slow eight year old? Regress much?
I think it's perhaps about abuse in a relationship. Maybe not physical, but verbal.
Like, they got into a fight, and she's screaming at him, telling him to let it out. He can dish it but can't take it when she brings the truth to him. She says he acts like she's the horrible one while he's a saint, when it's the other way around. And this happens often.
I'm probably way off, but that's my interpretation of the song...
This is mine and my mom's song....it's like me singing it to her...in the wise words of Tibby from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants "Parents, they screw up, it's what they do"
I think this song is definitely about a boyfriend relationship, not a relationship involving her parents, I agree that Joe Simpson has some weird creepy hold over his daughters, but this song doesnt address that.....
What makes me sure that this is a bf/gf relationship is the last few lines in the first stanza... "I found myself at home again Waiting for the after call The fallout that feels like such a mess"
They just got into yet another argument and she is doing what she always does.....waiting for the boy to call her, and they make up and start the cycle over again....i know the feeling well....
This is a good song. I think it's all about something she wish she had said to her boyfriend before he walked out on the argument, or something she said that she regrets saying to him and wondering what she should have said instead. I got that from the first verse.
