Summertime Blues Lyrics
Well I'm gonna raise a fuss
Yes I'm gonna raise a holler
About workin' all summer
Just to try to earn a dollar
Well I went to the boss man
Tried to get a break
Sometimes I wonder
How I'm gonnna do
'Cus there ain't no cure
For the summertime blues
Well my mom and papa told me
Son you've gotta earn some money
If you wanna use the car
To go ridin' next Sunday
Well I didn't go to work
Told the boss I was sick
Sometimes I wonder
How I'm gonnna do
'Cus there ain't no cure
For the summertime blues
I'm gonna take two weeks
I'm gonna have a fun vacation
Gonna take my problem
To the United Nations
Well I called my congressman
And he said quote
Sometimes I wonder
How I'm gonnna do
'Cus there ain't no cure
For the summertime blues
Yes I'm gonna raise a holler
About workin' all summer
Just to try to earn a dollar
Well I went to the boss man
Tried to get a break
How I'm gonnna do
'Cus there ain't no cure
For the summertime blues
Son you've gotta earn some money
If you wanna use the car
To go ridin' next Sunday
Well I didn't go to work
Told the boss I was sick
How I'm gonnna do
'Cus there ain't no cure
For the summertime blues
I'm gonna have a fun vacation
Gonna take my problem
To the United Nations
Well I called my congressman
And he said quote
How I'm gonnna do
'Cus there ain't no cure
For the summertime blues

Rush did an excellent job covering this song. I know that The Who also coverd it, but does anyone know who original wrote the song???
Blue Cheer originally did this song. Rush also credits Blue Cheer as being one of the very first hard rock "metal" bands and was a big influencce on them in the late 60s
this song was written and originally performed by eddie cochran in 1958. pooploads of other people covered it...the who, stray cats, the blackhearts, rush, and apparently blue cheer...whom ive never heard of.
bassnsx is right. Definately performed originally by Eddie Cochran.
yep
This is such a great cover. I love this song way more than any other version. You can just crank this song so loud and yet it's still never loud enough.
Yep, E. Cochran was the original.
