Us or Them Lyrics
There is no terror in my heart
Death is with us all
We suck him down with our first breath
And spit him out as we fall
There is no terror in my heart
No dread of the unknown
Desire for paradise to be...
We love this on our own
No I don't want you anywhere near me
I don't want you anywhere near me
Get your fucking world out of my head
I don't want you anywhere near me
I don't want you anywhere near me
Get your fucking world out of my head
I don't want your "us or them"
No I don't need your "us or them"
Oh I don't want your "us or them"
I don't need your "us or them" You're us or them...
"I live in knowledge of real truth And all my
gods are great!"
The doleful cant of a bigot
Blinded by fear and hate
You live in knowledge of real truth?
Oh the biggest lie I heard
How sick in your mind and soul
To be scared of my voice and my words
Oh you don't want me anywhere near you
You don't want me anywhere near you
Get my fucking head out of your
world
You don't want me anywhere near you
You don't want me anywhere near you
Get my fucking head out of your world
I don't want your "us or them"
No I don't need your "us or them"
Oh I don't want your "us or them"
I don't need your "us or them"
As the only way this ever ends is "me"
Death is with us all
We suck him down with our first breath
And spit him out as we fall
No dread of the unknown
Desire for paradise to be...
We love this on our own
I don't want you anywhere near me
Get your fucking world out of my head
I don't want you anywhere near me
I don't want you anywhere near me
Get your fucking world out of my head
No I don't need your "us or them"
Oh I don't want your "us or them"
I don't need your "us or them" You're us or them...
"I live in knowledge of real truth And all my
gods are great!"
The doleful cant of a bigot

I think this is one of their more transparent songs, but "Bush and Blair" is oversimplifying a bit. The first part of the song is about governments that play on people's fears and their religious beliefs to justify invasion of our privacy and to control us. The second part of the song refers to Muslims and Christians who see themselves as the arbiters of justice. He mocks those who see his freedom of speech as a threat. We all die alone, without religion or country.
kind of a pissed off version of "Imagine"
I thought this was a political song when I first heard it, but now I'm not so sure.
It seems a little deeper than that. Perhaps more a general comment on society, and the way we align ourselves along political, cultural and racial lines. Or perhaps unbridled misanthropy?
I like the comment above comparing this to Imagine :D might have something there!
First off, this band fucking rocks. I grew up with The Cure and it sucks that their self-titled album could be their last. but this is what I think.I feel that this song is about how he feels that he is ready for everything including death, hence the term "there is no terror in my heart, Death will suck us all". I feel that this song is mainly about death, and how fucked up life is. I could be wrong, but that is just what I feel.
I thougt that it was death is with us all. anyway your right this is an awesome band. I LOVE the cure sooooo much. I had no clue that this could be their last C.D though. This is the coolest song though. wernt the lyrics "i dont want you anywhere near me" on another song that they did?
i ahve no idea of wat this song is about i think maybe it could be about liek a girl or sumthign and how she is saying its either us - as in the relationship they have, or them - the relationship he has with the band or friends or wat ever. im pretty sure im just talking outta my ass here but thats wat im thinking.
I dont think it has anything to do about a girl or a relationship, rather a person who likes to scare people into believing their religion. Like join "us" the believers or "them" those damned non believers notice the "us or them" and "I live in knowledge of real truth And all my gods are great!" is in quotations...signifying them being said by someone else...anyway i could go into strict detail line for line...but do you really want to read all of that
I totally love this song. It really got me into The Cure since I've only recently discovered them ... But they are like the Grandfathers of Goth Rock and I'm writing about 50% of my music paper on Goth Rock about The Cure :)
I know it may sound surprising from the Cure, but this sounded like an anti-George Bush song. Bush often refers to "us or them", such as "either you are with the terrorist or you're with us". And Bush has a lot of religious motives for his handling of the usa. Anyway, I like to see it this way cause this is exactly how i feel about Bush and the ones who voted for him: just stay away from me.
Theres shades of The Kiss in there ("get it out, get it out, get your fucking world out of my head" or sumthin like that).
Actually to the first comment, this won't be close to their last - because they signed a 3 record deal with the company...so they have atleast 2 more albums to come out with...
This song to me is all about religion. Because "I live in knowledge of real truth And all my gods are great!"
And who says that? Religious people...And religions are always saying "Us or them..."
