I like this songs...but being from California, I fear people have some misconceptions about my state. The whole pace isn't sunny all the time, and there are places that are not even close to the beach. We're not all tan, we're not all movie stars. Most of us are either farmers, or live nears farmers. The central valley of CA is actually where most of the country's meat, vegitables and dairy products come from. the largest part of California can get up to 120 degrees in the summer, and in the winter there is fog so bad you can't see past the hood of your car. I'd love to pretend I live in the magical wonderland that everyone percieves California to be, but unfortunately very few people can afford to live in the parts of California that everyone is familiar with (mostly LA, so there are alot of tennaments there, because everyone wants to live there any way)
I understand the roots of your frustration, alot of ppl from near where I live (western PA) do see Cali as a magical beach wonderland. I think mainly its just a nice idea for people to have about a perfect paradise actually existing

This song is awesome! I agree with antidisneysequel, being from California as well, it isn't all sunny and fun, but I do live on the coast near beaches. So, I think Hawk Nelson is referring to the coastal part of California, even though they don't exactly say that. I am a surfer so I can relate to this song... when we get bored, we go to the beach and have a blast!
Yeah this is a great song, I love listening to it when its winter or when I'm kind of down because it always makes me think of summer and road trips and how much I would love to just take off somewhere just because I can! Unfortunately California is a bit too far away seeing as I live in Australia but we have great beaches here too! and maybe one day I'll make it to California
yeah well i live in england and there aren't many super good beaches in england, and no one surf boards much in this country. Its a nice song but i doubt that it could come true for me. This is a nice song about going from high school at the end of summer term and moving to california (I'm not falling for any more of these tricks, i'm so tired of everyone here)
This is like my anthem or something. I so wanna move to California, like San Clemente or other places with lots of beaches. I live in Florida but like it's nothing like everyone says. I wanna go to California!!!!
I love the whole song, but the line, "Everything is so outdated here" really makes me laugh because it's so true of where I live.
I live in Christchurch NZ but I so wanna live in california. The beaches look so nice, coz NZ beaches aren't that great! Also you never not what the weathers gonna be. like 2day it's summer and it's raining righrt now! I bet that dosen't happen in california.
