Bring Me Down Lyrics
Back in the day when nothing really mattered to me
I only saw with my eyes what they wanted to see
And everything around me seemed to never change
Looking for an easy way out, someone to blame
Why does it work this way still today
We wanna take somebody down along the way
But I won't let that one be me
Cause I don't want the drama it brings
See today isn't back in the day anymore
I know a little more than I did before
So don't forget before you try bringing me down
Whats goes around always comes back around
Chorus
You can't bring me down
Do you hear what I'm trying to say
You can't bring me down
I'll never turn the other way
You can't bring me down
What is it you're trying to say
You can't bring me down
It's not like I'm running away
So you think you can see inside my mind
You probably could if you just took a little time
I know exactly what you're trying to say
Sitting in the stands ain't the same as playing the game
So I can't comprehend in my mind
Just why we can't leave it all behind
Come on stand beside and hold the line
Cause tonight is the night we cry
Chorus
Why can't we feel what it takes for us to be real
Why can't we see what it takes for us to believe
Why do we say all of these things that bring us down
Chorus
I only saw with my eyes what they wanted to see
And everything around me seemed to never change
Looking for an easy way out, someone to blame
We wanna take somebody down along the way
But I won't let that one be me
Cause I don't want the drama it brings

"Whats goes around always comes back around"
This is a Hindu and Buddhist belief. (Karma)
I like this song especially the instruments.I love this entire part of the song because the words are really well done. =)
"Why can't we feel what it takes for us to be real Why can't we see what it takes for us to believe Why do we say all of these things that bring us down"
The saying isn't just Hindu or Buddhist... It's a Christian belief && the Bible states it many times (Isaiah 3:11, Proverbs 26:27, && Ecclesiastes 1:6-7 are a few in different ways being stated... There are many more verse though that show this belief), since Pillar is Christian, they wouldn't mix in different religious belief into a song. That would bring confusion.

As for the lines, it talks about being blinded to truth && believe is toward GOD. He's talking about a world of discouragement && hatred.. Which today's society has a lot of but they call it "joking around". This...

Which today's society has a lot of but they call it "joking around". This song also talks about being led by others and hints at conformity && to break it, to stop being a follower of the lives of other people && start leading your own; to take up responsibility.

Jennifer i have soemthign to tell you.
Even though you're probably the last person in the world to know this, I really really like Ashley. Alot...alot.
Ha ha I lied.
this song rocks
this song means a lot to me. my dad is a loser father(alcoholic, druggy guy, and the king of excuses) blames everyone or thign for all his problems. i cant stand him, and i am not going to let him "bring me down" or keep me from achieving what i need too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is probably my favorite Pillar song. It seriously rocks. But as for its meaning...
Of course it's talking about someone who used to blame everyone else for his own mistakes and could never take responsibility for his own actions and the consequences they brought.
However, this person has changed and I'd say, because Pillar is a Christian band, that this person found God and realized it's no one else's fault but his own that what has happened thus far has happened and now he's trying to tell what he's learned to everyone else, or atleast the ones trying to bring others down.
Also, he could be talking about Satan being the one trying to bring others down and now he's telling the devil himself that "You can't bring me down," and maybe he's telling others to quit blaming other people and stand up and show Satan that he can't touch anyone that's a Christian (because it's true, so long as we don't let him).
P.S. "What goes around always comes back around." Yea it is true that this is a Hindu and Buddhist belief and it is called karma but it is also a Christian belief as well. It states in the Bible (not in these exact words) that the wicked shall have wickedness cast upon them someday and that the righteous will be rewarded with crowns.
the music video for this is excellent. it deals with poverty and depression and drugs and all that and the song is basically saying it doesnt matter what the world throws at me cuz i got God so you cant get me down
I like the remix of this song
