Today I watched the sunset in the east
Turns out it was the sunrise
(And I walked a path as I was told a story)
(I watched you through your window)

I watched the sky as the moon was left reflecting on the day.
So if I can't have you I'll just close my eyes
And pretend she is you. Pretend you are mine.
I can see the world through your window.
And I sing to you every night from here.

Today I prayed my plane would crash.
You'd here the news
And think of me as much as I thought of you.

And if you never repeat my words
You said them before and I remember the sound
I keep the lights off
I know yuor right here
No matter what, you cant say no to me in my dreams.

Your routine is so divine. I have it memerized
As you walk to your window with your light on inside
I know you'll never find me here
As you admire the view
Do you know how pretty you look with your hair down?
I walk to your window admiring the view.

    I love it.

"So if I can't have you I'll just close my eyes And pretend she is you. Pretend you are mine."

Touching, in a sick FBTMOF kind of way.

well, you do the math. whats the chances someone that really listens to this band would stumble onto this site and have some clue about what the song means? not alot apparently ;)

to me this song sounds like it was written about an obession over someone that they couldnt be with/have/get love from or whatever. my 2 cents.

i second that notion. cause you cant see it in these lyrics but he keeps saying "you cant say no". meaning that he can have his way any damn way he wants in his mind with this person, and they cant stop him. and then the use of the whole "do you know how pretty you look with your hair down?...i walk to your window admiring the view." that my friends..shows the obsession.

definately one of my favorite Fear Before songs. there's just so many good lines, but the one that definately takes the cake is "so if i can't have you i'll just close my eyes and pretend she is you, pretend you are mine."

I think this song is about a guy that is totally obsessed with a girl, and he wants her really bad, but she doesn't want him.

"Your routine is so divine. I have it memerized As you walk to your window with your light on inside I know you'll never find me here As you admire the view Do you know how pretty you look with your hair down? I walk to your window admiring the view. "

Sounds like he is stalking her and watching her from outside her house.

    Yeah.

This is one of my favorite fear before songs. It's really good.

This is definately one of FBTMOF's best.

The lyrics seem to point to this guy having dreams about a girl who he obviously can't have.

Alot of talk about sitting up at night. "Close my eyes and pretend she is you"

Today I prayed my plane would crash. You'd here the news And think of me as much as I thought of you.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
