A Sight to Behold Lyrics

it's a sight to behold
when you got small words to mold
and you can make 'em your own

still love it would be much better
love it would be much better
i'm told

it's like golden corn
and i love its golden glow
it's the little head inside your little hold
and out spring some sparkling thoughts

still love it would be much better
love it would be much better
love it would be much better
love it would be much better

it's like finding home
in an old folk song
that you've never ever heard
still you know every word
and for sure you can sing along

but love it would be much better
love it would be much better
love it would be much better
love it would be much better
i know, i know

I don't necessarily think this song is about sex vs. love. To me... the first verse speaks of finding your identity, the second: creation, and the third: peace of mind/spirituality... and all three pale in comparison to his idea of love. love enables it all.

i think this song is so good. instantly interesting really, it's different.

I agree that the old folk song line is the best one.

When i heard the little head line, I thought that was just about the little voice inside you, your concious the thing that gives you opinions. and when you get a special idea or thought it sometimes seems that it's come from nowhere.

After all, in this song he's talking about little wonders.

how in the fuck does he do that with his voice?

I think I understand this song better now.

My interpretation is that amazing things are all around him, nature never isn't magical but he's heard about this thing called 'love'. something feels like it's missing. love could be much better, more magical then all the other things.

I love this song

I've also seen the lyrics written "It's the little head inside your little hole". IE: the second verse is somewhat crudely about sex, and perhaps the difference of lust versus love ("it would be much better")

This is one of my favourites from Devendra.

this is a wonderful song and in my opinion the verse "it's like finding home in an old folk song" is true of this song : you feel home everywhere whenever you listen this kind of perfectly sincere song.

I'm pretty sure this song is about the difference between normal sex, and sex with someone you love.

hmm. i don't know about it being merely "love is better than meaningless sex." i think the second verse holds that sentiment, but the rest doesn't seem to fit that at all. the first verse seems to be talking about writing a song, or creating any kind of art; it's beautiful, sure, but love is better. then the second verse is the same as you say; sex is beautiful, sure, but love is better. the third verse seems to be talking about other people's art, discovering beautiful art, but knowing that love is better. on the whole, i think the song is just saying that love is better than ALL these things (and everything else).
