This Beard Is for Siobhan Lyrics
the daughter of a man
was a mammal
she bore the mark of fire
and of flame
though they're both the same
born unto the age
of the golden
oh that golden age
of endless loss and endless gain
now because my lips have split
all the little children
they all hide in front
in the middle and in behind
and because my nose has froze
but i can keep on smellin'
i could smell my little day away
i could smell my whole day away
now because my teeth don't bite
i can take 'em out dancin'
i could take my little teeth out
and i could show them a real good time
a good time a good time
a real good time
was a mammal
she bore the mark of fire
and of flame
though they're both the same
of the golden
oh that golden age
of endless loss and endless gain
all the little children
they all hide in front
in the middle and in behind
but i can keep on smellin'
i could smell my little day away
i could smell my whole day away
i can take 'em out dancin'
i could take my little teeth out
and i could show them a real good time
a real good time

Devendra Banhart can take my teeth out and show them a real good time any day.
Wait, what?
What a fun and playful little song! It purposely makes absolutely no sense...and that's a good thing. It reminds me of what happens to children when they're so giddy with joy and happiness. Their delightful intensity causes you to temporarily fear that they may burst at any given moment. Great song.
yes good call. I agree. I also love how climactic this song is, all building up to the rocking out at the end (my favorite part, of course).
this song is shamelessly cheerful lol. i feel manipulated!
I am immediately struck with an imagine of Devendra sitting in the middle of a circle of small children with his guitar while playing this song.

i can also see it it now 'couldBarryone' ! i like the part where his taking out his teeth out dancing, it sounds fun.
when i bought the record, the only record was in the front room and my mom would hear me listning to it and dance around the house singing it. at first it ruined it for me, now i think its awsome and sort of strange...either way
Smells like breakfast in bed...:)
I think it is about the fact that even if our bodies are gone at death, our consciousness is still going to be alive and able to feel touch and see in a certain sense. We don't know exactly how it's going to work, but we're going to have a real good time!
