Foxy Lady (Jimi Hendrix cover) Lyrics

You know you are a cute little heart-breaker
You know you are a sweet little love-maker
I want to take you home
I won't do you no harm
You've got to be all mine
All mine . . .

I see you come down on the scene, Foxy
You make me want to get up and scream, Foxy

I've made up my mind
I'm tired of wasting all my precious time
You've got to be all mine
All mine . . .

Yes Robert Smith did actually this version of the song. Jimi Hendrix was an idol of his. They used to do this song at soundchecks though. When Robert found out it was on TIB album, he was none too happy about it.

Yeah, track 7 on the Three Imaginary Boys album... shares two interesting positions within Cure trivia... only song not sung by Robert Smith (Michael Dempsey was the bass guitarist at the time), and also the only cover on a cure album.

This song is not considered one of The Cure's best... 'Never Enough', the 2005 biography, referred to the song as an atrocity, pretty much, and apparently Robert Smith hates it with a passion and never even wanted it on the album in the first place.

Personally, I kinda like it...

Love that biography! so funny! I've unfortunately never heard the original, but I'm sure it's much better. I still strangely like this, though.

It's on Three Imaginary Boys.

Smith loved Jimi Hendrix and LOATHED AND ABHORRED their cover of it. At the beginning, you can hear Lol ask about doing a longer version of it, and Robert replies "No, Lol, no" and shouts "This is a good intro(!)" just before Dempsey starts singing, and you can hear him snarling all the way through. It was never supposed to be on the album, it was a soundcheck, but the band had no say in any of the production of the album.

They did... my friend downloaded it. I couldn't believe it, but I've found a lot of places on the 'net that claims they did. I still wouldn't believe it unless Robert Smith himself told me. (and gave me an autographed copy of "Three Imaginary Boys"...)

He actually was a Jimi Hendrix fan. saw him in concert a week before he died... or wanted to, but his older brother who took him was busy getting high. and it was on the three imaginary boys album.

another one of my favorites . . . even though i couldn't really understand what Michael Dempsey was singing until i found out what the lyrics were . . . Robert Smith didn't like the cover too much though, and i qoute, " I always thought it was a crap adaptation".
