Throw Down Lyrics

He fell for her again, she watched it happen
Every day-- day by day
But more important-- night by night
She watched it all come into play
He held her hands, she listened to what he had to say

Thrown down... like a barricade
Maybe now he could prove to her
That he could be good for her
And they should be together

You've shaken your faith in me, no
You've shaken my faith in everything else
A decision no one makes, and now you're going home
Faith is a hard thing to hold on to
Something inside you says I don't have to
You're not like other people, you do what you want to
You're not like other people, you do what you want to

Thrown down... like a barricade
Maybe now he could prove to her
That he could be good for her
And they should be together

You say you're sorry...
Now you should walk away
But it's so overwhelming,
You have nothing left to say
You can sit outside his door and wait
Well, you can dedicate your pain to him

Oh, thrown down... like a barricade
Maybe now he could prove to her
That he could be good for her
And they should be together
About just how much he never really told her...
Thrown down...
About how difficult it had been to be without her...
Thrown down...

This song was written by Stevie Nicks during Fleetwood Mac's "The Dance" tour in 1997. Stevie and Lindsey had put their differences to one side and began to get along and talk about their love for each other and their past. Stevie came up with this song after the tour and reflects on how well they got on, and on what could have been.....great song as always from The Mac.

have to say this is one of my favourite songs of all time. what i think is going on is a couple have broken up and it was the guy who ended it, but now he's falling for her again and the girl is aware of this as they gradually become closer. the guy tells the girl he wants to get back together and the girl listens. the guy basically wants to prove to the girl that they are good together and the girl understands this but is having trouble coming to terms with it because of what he did to her when he ended it. bascially the girl has lost faith in the guy and therefore everything else, but at the same time she sees that the guy is different - she knows that she should really just let him walk away but really she doesn't want to. i think the guy is pretty much regretting ever letting her go.

sounds spot on to me

This song seems to be about a couple who broke up for an insignificant reason and their lives are more empty now that they are apart. "A decision no one makes" and the "barricade" are kind of vague, but I think the point is that the reason they aren't together is petty or arbitrary and she feels that he should give it another shot.

yellowstar: agreed.

I get the general sense of the lyrics, but something about the wonderful things that that guitar is doing keeps distracting me and keeping me from getting as much into the lyrics as I otherwise would.

Terrific song, any way you slice it. It should have been a chart monster.

Awesome song! Stevie said that she wrote this about Lindsey, plain and simple. When Lindsey asked her who she is talking to when she says "now you should walk away," she simple says "you. I'm talking to you."

This was in the documentary "Destiny Rules" by Fleetwood mac. They were having an arguement over how the tenses in this song are screwed up.

the lyrics don't do much for me, but the music is pure awesome.

sounds like this song is about a guy anda girl who are real good friends and the guy has fallen in love with her. he has told her and she dosn't feel the same for him. no matter what he did , he couldn't show her to give a relationship between them a chance. and now later on in their lives she finally sees that she loved him also but now regrets taking the chance to be with him

Fleetwood Mac has to be one of my favorite groups of all time. Any album I listen to the majority of the songs I love.

yea I think its about a couple who are broken up but trying to get back together

A guy and girl are dating, but the guy is falling for her quickly. "He fell for her again," it could be the same guy falling for her or just an another additional guy falling for her like they seem to always do. The nights are when they experience the most love and lust. She saw what was happening and she let it continue, "she listened to what eh had to say" when he confessed his feelings for her.

She shoots him down, throws a barricade between them. She's ending it with him but he wants to keep trying, he wants to "prove to her that he could be good for her," that he's the one. She doesn't have faith in the relationship, she doesn't see it working. She's sending him away, her justification is that "he does what eh wants to" and that is simply not okay.

For me, this is her saying "she's sorry" for breaking up with him. He feels terrible, and she wants to stay there and talk to him about ti but there is truly nothing more to say so the only option is to just walk away. She still feels his pain and she is suffering for the both of them, she could "dedicate her pain to him" and stay stuck on him forever, "wait outside his door" but that's not feasible.

There's still so much that they never really told each other.
