One of the lines that has the most potent effect on me. It's just wonderful.

I think that this song is about this guy. He's feeling overwhelmed, and he wants to be alone, whishes he was far away, wishes he was "Weeks on the road, a long way from home, just shut off the phone". Then his girlfriend, noticing his melancholy, says that her love can "heal" him, she can lift him from this feeling.

"I'll kill you if I do something wrong"... NO CLUE. Seriously. Maybe the girlfriend is saying that she feels like she'll be the cause of his suicide if she says or does something to hurt him?

Being with her was so refreshing for him, that it made him feel like a new person ("still feels like the first day of my life").

I always get the feeling that this girl split, or killed herself or something, because of what he says in verse 2: "And maybe I'm crazy, but I just can't slow down (he's burying himself in his work), and maybe I'm crazy, but at least I'm still around". I think he's saying that, unlike her, he is still "around", and keeping their promise to "never give up this life". "This life" they promised to never give up could also refer to life in the music industry?

Anycase, I always write "Together regardless, we'll walk through the darkness" on all cards and stuff I give my hubby. It just touches me so much... he's saying that no matter what happens, regardless of what happens, regardless of how dark it may become, they'll stay together and "walk" through it, they'll survive it intact, as a couple.

It's about two friends who are going to live together or going to another country together, or it's about being in the band.

To me, this song represents a committment - being able to work through problems (together regardless we'll walk through the darkness), never giving up on it (Still hanging on, still going strong, here I belong). there are a ton of different kinds of commitments - for me it was about remaining. i'm glad that i found this song when i did. "And maybe I'm crazy but at least I'm still around" makes me think about that someone may have gone through something extremely harsh - and may have a reputation for what he/she has done, but they still survived and made it through. the entire thing with "feels like the first day of my life" reminds me of a new beginning, being able to start anew. i hope that someone else out there was helped by this song the way it helped me ;)

I've heard in an interview that this song is about being in the band actually, and how hard Lauri fighted to make it. He left school at 16, to be a musician and he's family didn't understand him then.

mostly agreeing with Halloween. Leiah, i'm pretty sure the interview you're talking about was for In My Life... cause that's what he's said about that song.

First Day Of My Life is my all time favourite song! It's so... strengthening, i think it is about starting again and coming through hard times for the better in the long run. I agree with Lauril it's one of their most posiitive songs. I don't know where I'd be without it!

I think is mostly about living the life intense, being around the ones you love as always and still having the ability to get surprised, like the first time you hanged out with your friends or the first time you see something happening. Its about feeling everything as if it were the first time on the first day of your life.

Gwynbleidd & Lilandra: Regarding the "I'll kill you" line, I'm fairly sure there's some punctuation missing. My best guess at this section would be:

And you say "I'll heal you, I'll always be yours." And you say "I'll kill you" if I do something wrong.

This makes significantly more sense - the singer is in a co-dependent relationship with someone whose promises of devotion seem somewhat hollow in light of their threats of violence every time the singer does something wrong.

In this lyrics everything is clear except the song title! Why the "First day of MY LIFE"? and WHAT FEELS LIKE this?

it is about two people trying to stay together o a long and dangerous journey, like it was easy to be in love when all was calm and safe, but now they have to fight to be true to each other. best line: 'maybe i'm crazy but at least I'm still around' which i think is about them having to do really mad things to survive
