Mayberry Lyrics

Sometimes it feels like this world is spinning faster
Than it did in the old days
So naturally, we have more natural disasters
From the strain of a fast pace
Sunday was a day of rest
Now, it’s one more day for progress
And we can’t slow down ‘cause more is best
It’s all an endless process

Chorus
(Well) I miss Mayberry
Sitting on the porch drinking ice-cold cherry Coke
Where everything is black and white (da da dadadadada)
Picking on a six string
Where people pass by and you call them by their first name
Watching the clouds roll by
Bye, bye

Sometimes I can hear this old earth shouting
Through the trees as the wind blows
That’s when I climb up here on this mountain
To look through God’s window
Now I can’t fly
But I got two feet that get me high up here
Above the noise and city streets
My worries disappear

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge
Sometimes I dream I’m driving down an old dirt road
Not even listed on a map
I pass a dad and son carrying a fishing pole
But I always wake up every time I try to turn back

(Repeat Chorus)

Bye, bye
(nah nah nah nah nah nah (repeat nah's))

(Fade)

Sometimes I listen to a song over and over many times and I still don't catch the meaning of a song until one day something clicks! I finally have discovered a small piece of the lyric puzzle. I think lyric meanings "click" with everyone at different times.

Anyways. It just came to me. The line "Where everything is black and white"- I think this refers back to the "old days" when things weren't as complicated. Time seemed to go past slower then, and everything was either "right or wrong" or "black and white"- no grey area then.

These tiny light bulbs that light up with each new "discovered" lyric are exciting.

I love this song. Whenever I'm overwhelmed by living in the city I just close my eyes and listen to this song like it says here:

That’s when I climb up here on this mountain To look through God’s window Now I can’t fly But I got two feet that get me high up here Above the noise and city streets My worries disappear

Great song by the Flatts as usual.

This song is kind of sad. It's saying the world is so fast paced with working people. It's saying, back when, people were friendly and you just hung out. "Sunday was a day of rest," but "now it's one more day for progress" and that's true. They miss the old days. Now everything is complicated, when back then, everything was simple.

Yea it's really nostalgic but I take solace in this awesome song where I can forget about this new world overflowing with greed and competition and where the simple things and sincerity are becoming a figment of our imagination.

places like this exist. I think that being more friendly and smiling makes every place more homely. Just because there are more people doesn't mean things have to change.

this song means a lot to me...i am a country girl...i grew up in the country, lived there all my life and know no different. but today's country isn't how it used to be. houses are going everywhere and soon there will be no such thing as country...that is the point of this song.

Mayberry is a reference to the Andy Griffith show, I'm pretty sure. Yeeappp, about a simpler time in life, small country town life.

This is about missing the old days. Wanting to go back in time to when all was right with the world, or at least it seemed like it. I love this song, and it speaks the truth.

Mayberry is indeed a reference to the Andy Griffith show. Which is really Mount Airy NC where Andy Griffith was born and raised. My grandma is also from Mount Airy, and is related to Andy Griffith. Good song.

Music 412, i dont think he is saying that. He is saying how, people, well at least christians, used to keep sunday as a day for rest, but now this simple life, has slipped away, and now sunday has just become another day to get more of what u want
