On a Day Like Today Lyrics
On a day like today
I looked at you and I
Saw something in the way
You stared into the sky
I saw you were sick
And tired of my wrong turns
If you only knew the way I feel
I'd really love to tell you
But I could never seem to say the words I needed to
On a day like today no other words would do
I saw you were sick
And tired of my wrong turns
If you only knew the way I feel
I'd really love to tell you
But I can never find the words to say and I don't know why
I can't find the words to say and I don't know why
I looked at you and I
Saw something in the way
You stared into the sky
I saw you were sick
And tired of my wrong turns
If you only knew the way I feel
I'd really love to tell you
On a day like today no other words would do
And tired of my wrong turns
If you only knew the way I feel
I'd really love to tell you
I can't find the words to say and I don't know why

"This is a song about two normal people who fall in love, who love eachother, and fuck it all up"
i searched google for "Tom Chaplin, Bristol (19/01/05)" because i was so intrigued by insomniacuk's comment. this is what came up on the first cached webpage:
"This song is about not being able to say the right thing, and the more you say, the more you fuck it up" - Tom - UK tour, October/November
"This is a song about two people, who are completely in love with each other, but for whatever reason just manage to completely fuck it up" - Tom - Bristol gig - 19/01/05
thank you very much for your comment. it was very enlightening to find that webpage albeit cached. for all keane fans, you should check that out.
A very stiring song, in lyrics and music. His lover is starting to pull away from him and he thinks it's because of his flaws. "Were sick and tired of my wrong turns If you only knew The way I feel i'd really love to tell you."
Can never find the words to say
I love this song so much. That feeling when you care so much about someone but can't seem to convey it...God, I love Keane.
I'm not sure what the song means to me. Hey Athlete do you have AIM? Cause if ya do I wanna know how to get some of the songs you've submitted. I already know there was a japan import with 3 of the songs you listed but the 4th thats also not on the 10 track release is also not on the import either. To The End Of The Earth I believe the song was called. I'd like to know where I can go to hear these songs...samples maybe but hopefully in their entirety. I like the album and the fact that there are 4 songs by them that I don't have kinda dissapoints me. You could also just tell me here if you want.
I recently saw Keane in concert (they were absolutely amazing!) and Tom gave an explanation for this one. He says that it's about being in a low place, a bad state of mind and so you keep fckin up, but the more you try to talk about it or explain it, the more you actually do fck up. From this and the explanation I found for Bend And Break I wonder if any of the band have suffered serious depression?
p.s. sorry about the language in that last post, but I felt it was necessary in order to fully convey the emotion behind the words (after all, they were the words Tom used).
well going back to blokey asking about the End Of The Earth song, i believe it was originally recorded when the band were a four piece, and then later re-recorded for the Everybody's Changing single as a B-side!
Where did this song come from? Not on "Hopes and fears". What about the other songs listed that aren't there...where can we get them or hear them?
it is a song on the UK edition of the album Hopes And Fears. most of the songs have previously released on UK issued singles as Bsides, or as songs which were recorded as rough cuts or demo's when the band were originally a four piece!
