When the drum and crash in, it's so fucking good. Definitely a highlight of the album.

He was devistated because of someone who he had lost and he felt trapped. After all that shit happened that person tried to come back but it was too late.
I think this song is about everyday life. Everything you do, your job , your house, your habits are all chains. You cant escape these things becuase you are obligated by these chains. Secret machines are an awesome band and remind me alot of Pink Floyd, and thats not bad.
The first time I heard this song, I immediatly thought of the ancient Greek legend of the princess Andromeda. Her parents had offended Poseidon and in return they had to sacrifice her to a...sea monster? (sorry, it's late and the details are fuzzy) Anywya, she was chained to a large rock near the sea; she was later saved by Perseus, a Greek hero, who flew upon Pegasus. Well, that's just my superficial impression of a few of the lyrics.
this song is where him and his friends experiment with drugs, he convinces himself that the drugs have taken over one of his friends lives so he gets him to quit, but the whole time, he was the one whos life had been taken over. you are cahains. they saved each other. im off weed now, thank tsm.
When Secret Machines left Dallas for the Big Apple, they left behind girlfriends. Although they weren't happy about leaving the girls behind, it was necessary to kickstart their career, seeing how Dallas was losing all semblance of inspiration for them. The song is about that parting which, although regretful, was necessary for them to continue to be true to themselves.
The rock to which "you are bound" is Earth. I think this is basically about everyday life as someone pointed out. Kinda trying to say that "boring" reality hides from us the fact that there is something bigger than our life, at work outside our consciousness.
It's about the novel "Atlas Shrugged."
