It means that the guy is talking too much about luck and good fortune, he is turning to charms and good luck objects to fix his bad karma and everything that does him harm.

The idea is that he is blaming other things for his own mistakes, and this is drowning her, making her hopeless because he doesn't' see that its his doing that is making bad things happen to him

I think something bad happend to the singer's man, something that also affected his friends, and that his trying to drown his sorrow in alcohol, because that what he thinks pepole do. The singer feel helpless and his saddnes is starting to affect her, too.

I think he believes that luck is what going to save him from himself, that he don't realize that his the only one who can do that. He's looking for God help and forgets that he needs to way he deals with his pain.
