I think the meaning of this song(to me at least), is that when you're a little kid people tell you that everything is going to be ok and that life is easy and then you get older and it gets tough and they turn their backs on you and leave you on your own and tell you "hey that's life." At least that's how it is with me, adults always told me when I was little that I would grow up and have money and be rich and be happy. Well you liars, it didn't turn out that way.
