Lovers Need Lawyers Lyrics
I swear to speak the whole truth
Nothing but the truth
Oh, so help me God
I wasn't cheating on you
Yeah, I got a spotty record
But I've been renewed
If you can't believe me
Then what's to believe?
Once you lose the trust you lose sincerity
I'm sick and tired of acting sincere
To your accusing eyes and ears
Oh, lovers need lawyers
All that I'm screaming's being held against me
Well, you're judge and jury
So hang me and take me for all I am worth
Better or worse
Yeah, I was drinking
Yeah, she was drinking too
And yeah, we made a connection
We came from the same neighborhood
Surely you can't charge me for that
No, that's merely fact
Merely coincidence
So there we were
Outlasting last call
We took a cab to Iowa for more alcohol
Yeah, we crossed the river alone
I also went home alone
Oh, lovers need lawyers
Talking in circles but missing the meaning of
The reason we're fighting
You just want to make the best me that you can
All I am
Take me for all I am worth
Take me for all I am
I could never take another's hand
It's to you I'm condemned
I could never take another's hand
It's to you I'm condemned
I could never take another's hand
It's to you I'm condemned
I could never take another's hand
I could never take another's hand
I could never take another's hand
I could never take another's hand
No, I could never take another's hand
No, I could never take another's hand
I could never take another's hand
It's to you I'm condemned
Make the best me that you can
Make the best me that you can
Nothing but the truth
Oh, so help me God

wow no posts, eh? well this is a great song, i love tim kasher's voice in this song, well i love it all the time but this song is really good.
this song is pretty self explanatory, i think. i love tim kasher, i think his lyrics are genius. i almost love the good life as much as cursive, but not quite.
I can only imagine how tim's ex wife feels about a whole entire album and two tours dedicated to their failed marridge. Thats all I can think about when I listen to this song, how much it must suck for her. The video for this song is pretty cool.
i think "album of the year" is about a new girlfriend, possibly Jiha Lee? Not his wife anymore.
"And yeah, we made a connection We came from the same neighborhood Surely you can't charge me for that No, that's merely fact Merely coincidence"
-don't know why, but i especially like this part because of how he sounds when he sings it, gets my attention everytime i listen. this whole song his voice sounds great, but Tim sounds great in all his songs.
applauses Tim Kasher i totally love this song. It's self explanatory.
I love this song, it's awesome, one of Tims best I'd say. It's one of his that just makes me smile
Stupidly, for anyone who is familiar with The Crucible, this song closely mirrors the relationship between John & Elizabeth Proctor. Basically, he cheated in the past. She still holds it against him, still condemns him for it. They seem to be struggling with each other. I do love Tim Kasher.
This song seems a lot like a follow-up to "notes in his pocket."
they both talk about being with someone, whom he met before, at a bar past last call. So Perhaps he got caught cheating or at least she suspects it and he's trying to explain his way out of it.
just my two cents
it's so funny how he tries to justify his cheating. Anyway, he's amazing, he & his voice
