Uncle Tom's Cabin Lyrics

Just for the record let's get this story straight
Me and Uncle Tom were fishing it was getting pretty late
Out on a cypress limb above the wishin' well
Where they say it got no bottom say it take you down to Hell
Over in the bushes and off to the right
Come two men talking in the pale moonlight
Sheriff John Brady and Deputy Hedge
Haulin' two limp bodies down to the water's edge

I know a secret down at Uncle Tom's cabin, oh yeah
I know a secret that I just can't tell

They didn't see me and Tom in the trees
Neither one believing what the other could see
Tossed in the bodies let 'em sink on down
To the bottom of the well where they'd never be found

I know a secret down at Uncle Tom's cabin, oh yeah
I know a secret that I just can't tell
I know a secret down at Uncle Tom's cabin
I know a secret that I just can't tell
I know a secret down at Uncle Tom's cabin
Know who put the bodies in the wishing well

Soon as they were gone me and Tom got down
Prayin' real hard that we wouldn't make a sound
Running through the woods back to Uncle Tom's shack
Where the full moon shines throught the roof tile cracks

Oh my God Tom
Who are we gonna tell
The sheriff he belongs in a prison cell
Keep your mouth shut that's what we're gonna do
Unless you wanna wind up in the wishin' well too, oh

I know a secret down at Uncle Tom's cabin
I know a secret that I just can't tell
I know a secret down at Uncle Tom's cabin , oh yeah
I know a secret that I just can't tell
Oh, I know a secret down at Uncle Tom's cabin
Know who put the bodies
Know who put the bodies in the wishing well

Oh yeah

I agree with amazongxOxO and the rest of that screen name doohickey thing. Anyhew, funny thing is after taking a liking to this song, I picked up Uncle Toms cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe.....wanna talk about a major headache, and after reading the 1st 5 chapters, I litterally thrw the book down and cried," Where the hell is the well? What well?!" I thought the song was based from the book. TT I don't recomend the book, ^____^ but the song is my favorite warrant song!!! Wooot! Oh! The song meaning, I'm thinking it's about a cuople of the gys in the bushes, watching the sherrif and deputy haul a body over the well, scurrying away and promising not to tell they saw anything. Maybe it's about the Ku Klux and Jim Crow, buts thats just me. =^.~=

This is my favorite Warrant song, and lyrically, it's one of the more original of the hair/melodic metal era. For once a song not about sex, drugs, falling in or out of love, or partying. It's not that the lyrics are really creative-the language is pretty typical, but the subject matter is far different and it fits the banjos used in the song perfectly.

If you watch the music video, its not an actual wishing well its a lake or swamp. The sherrif and deputy killed two people and obviously trying to dispose of the bodies through them in the well that had "no bottom"

I think it's about the civil rights movement. I remember when the Freedom Riders and other activists were attacked (some murdered) by the "law" in the south and I think the cops getting rid of the bodies is a definite reference to that. How was Cop Killer decried so heavily just a year and half later but no police officers made any noise about this song??

Hey that is an excellent point. Still love the guitar riff and the chorus though.

This song always reminds me of Water's Edge by Seven May Three but I guess WE should remind me of UTC since it came out like 5+ years later. UTC even has a the line with 'Water's Edge' in it...so maybe 7M3 wrote WE based on UTC?

A lot of talk is that the lyrics are about Janie Lane being raped by 2 people in the music industry before his time in Warrant. He was drugged and raped by a well know musician and a producer when he first got to the L.A. music scene. He never reported it because well its not something that a man wants known. He confessed to Bobby Brown after their divorce. I've heard some names thrown around and would love for her to release the names. Sick bastards need to be exposed. They are the reason he drank himself to death because he had a secret that he just couldn't tell.

I just got into Warrant and this is the only song I knew by them before ... Anyway, unless it's some hidden meaning and the whole song is a metaphor, it's about the guy and his uncle who were out fishing and see the sheriff and deputy dragging to dead guys (who they presumably killed) into the well. They then agree never to tell anyone what they saw. That's my take on it, anyway. Good song. Not their best, but still good.
